So that would be

2005 18	6.173	6.067
minus US.

That makes more sense, I wondered how 2005 could score anywhere near the snoozefest that was 2004. Interesting stats Makarias: especially when comparing between seasons. I hope to vote regularly in 2006 (I caught this a bit late in 2005!)

So McLaren & Raikkonen runaway winners then, does anyone have Briatore's email address? :D

Interesting to see almost no difference between quality and satisfaction. Could it be that people let their quality rating be influenced by how their favourites did?;)

Satisfaction with Renault wins : 5.658
Satisfaction with McLaren wins : 6.603

Quality when Renault won : 5.874
Quality when McLaren won : 6.393

Quality when both Renaults on podium : 7.035
Quality when both McLarens on podium : 5.607

Only for China, Australia, Brazil, Britain, France, Hungary, Spain the satisfaction was higher than the quality.

I guess some crossover can't be avoided, but it's also a reflection of Renault benefitting from McLaren mistakes rather than seizing wins via head-to-head contests. Not Renault's fault of course, nor that McLaren's obvious superiority forced Renault into the unglamourous role of protecting a large points lead, rather than attempting to dominate the season with more aggressive strategies.

The voting systems reward the drivers that face unreliability problems. I guess it's a sympathy thing: people tend to feel a driver is robbed when his engine explodes for example and give credit here.

That explains part of Räikkönen's succes.

What comes to quality of the season I think the averages give too pessimistic view over the whole season even if we'd exclude US GP.

I have an impression we had more good or great races this season than usually.
Bahrain, San Marino, Monaco,Turkey, Belgium and Japan got around and over 7 and Canada and Italy over 6,5. The summer had a string of boring races, thou.

Also after a good race a bad one seems like a very bad one.

How about a grand finale, where we get to rate the season as a whole?
