Anyone think he's in for a shot next year in F1?
Perhaps, Toro Rosso, because he's Red Bull-backed?

Well, certainly with his name, he'll get all the benefits and chances to succeed.

So to answer your question, I'd say all he needs to do is look competent in GP2 and he'll
get a shot at F1.

Senna and Bourdais at Toro Rosso in 2008?

Ron Dennis already went on record a few days ago (F1racing.net )that this year's GP2 does not contain any major talent and that he expects Glock and Senna dividing the wins. Which practically means he considers Senna to be the one eyed among the blind.

That was such an idiotic comment. What he was trying to do, ruinning those young boys careers? I hope someone in the field prove Dennis was badly wrong. Boy, it is hard to like Dennis, I for one never did.

he;s not alone in thinking that. Glocks already proved to be decent, but little else, and Bruno Senna has never looked like anything out of the ordinary.

I have high hopes for Senna, but really, you can't say he is doomed already. Given how late he started, he is doing pretty good. And there are many, many drivers on the field, how can he pass a judgment on all of them? They don't have to be Hamilton's to be worthy of Formula 1, do they? And they can grow a lot in years to come, I think. Conway, Nakajima, Buemi, Ramirez [I meant Sergio Jimenez], how the hell he can judge them?

To me he was just feeding the hype over Hamilton: nothing to see on GP2, nothing coming from there, my guy it the only one worthy. Well, to me, I find it hard to believe Piquet Jr. on a MacLaren would do any worse than him, really.

I really, really, hope all the bad luck for Dennis on that matter.

It is too early to tell, my friend. And given Ron's weight and reputation, I'd expect a more classy stand point and restraint.

But a classy stand over life is too much for the guy who once bullied Junqueira threatening his carreer for running for position against Coulthard in Monaco.

Err, that was Bernoldi.;) not that it really makes any difference (both fairly competent, but not top caliber brazilian drivers).

About the topic, I dont doubt that Senna has bennefited from his famous name and fortune, BUT, he has proven to be a very decent driver, and even though he's not turning heads right now, I wouldnt be the least bit suprised if he was in F1 next year or the next.

I don't watch GP2 much, but I know the Venezuelan, Maldonado won the drivers circuit race in Monaco last weekend. Is he any good? I heard he did a very good job last year in the Renault World series as well.

Based on Senna's experience his accomplishments so far are outstanding so to say Bruno has never looed like anything out of the ordinary really make no sense whatsoever. Bruno will be a star, irregardless of his name, of course his name will get him to F1, he will have to do the rest.

Senna's done a LOT better than I thought he would, he was floundering a bit in BritF3 which is a pale shadow of its former self. I think people are selling Glock short, though, there's talent there.

No he isn't - he's sponsored by Santander, who also sponsor McLaren.

It was exactly what i thought about it too....Just because he is in a great position he has his driver problem solved for years it's a very unfair comment to the others. If i remember correctly last year's field was about the same quality as this years, except Lewis did a really really excellent job.
As for Bruno with his very limited practice i think he is doing a more than competent job.
At Monaco he was very unlucky and his finishing position should have been better.

Considering how narrowly his boy won by last year, you'd think Ron would know better than to make a comment like that.

That's a very good point. And as far as i see the GP2 cars are far from equal given the circumstances, and Lewis was one of the bests....

Get your facts right before aimless picking at drivers that win their 3rd ever GP2 race.

Maldonado won Monaco, Spa and another race in WS, so he is a Monaco specialist.

The only downsize is Hugo Chaves ordered all companies of Venezuela to support Maldonado, instead of the promissing Ernesto Viso.

Chavez should not be a reason why this driver if talented should be overlooked. In my opinion if a driver is a Monaco specialist by winning his only two races there then he has a promising future. I'll be watching this guy maybe he is the next Hamilton.

Wasn't Moldonado banned from Monaco for life for running into a marshal under a yellow flag back in 2005, though it was obviously lifted if it was him. Saw him win the Renault WS race there last year.

As for Bruno Senna, he won a feature race in GP2 which shows that he is no slouch. However, he will have to fight for the championship if he is to make the next step on merit. He may well surprise us all yet. Good luck to him I say.

Bruno will not and should not be in F1 next year. It's too early.

The only people I can imagine stepping up would be Glock and Nakajima, but that's only if there is space for them, and that appears to be a problem at the moment. Glock, for sure, deserves his spot in F1. If he had been at iSport all last year it would've been a very different championship.

He's won his last two races there, but the one before that he almost killed some marshals, of course.

I don' think that was a driving error. He made a stupid mistake from what I understand and did not stop during a yellow flag. These kids are young - they have lots of stuff to learn. If he is good , he is good.

He needs to finish some other races and stop injuring other drivers in stupid accidents before we get to call him good, I'd suggest. You might want to ask Michael Ammermuller how he rates Maldonado...

I am obviously less informed, as I stated above I do not watch the Gp2 races but would like to. The problem is that here in the East Coast, US they show them really early in the AM. The fact that a very young driver won two races at Monaco caught my attention, that is all.

He was banned for 4 races, he's won both his races at Monaco since, it is the same guy.

Although I'd bet he'll take an extra year in GP2, I can imagine Williams (Ayrton's last team) or Honda (Ayrton's "real employer") having an interest. But then there are others on the market they'd be interested in as well, so I'm not sure if that would be who he's referring to or not.

There won't be space in McLaren for years, so I don't think that would be it.

Alx Danielsson was consistently faster than Maldonado when they both drove for DAMS in WSbR. Maldonado is very quick but he is also very inconsistent. About the same as Vettel I would say. As with most drivers that dont have to worry about budgets he is as likely to impress in an F1-test as he is to bury the car in the fence. Danielsson is as fast while still driving within his limits. Senna? If there's any justice in the selection process to Formula One there are plenty of other drivers that stand in line before him - based on merits, not on name. I have nothing against Bruno Senna and he is a very good driver, quite possibly F1-material but so are others.

Bruno has no intention of going to F1 next year anyway his plans are to race in GP2 next year to gain as much experience as possible. To be fair to him though he never seems out of his depth, has has got to learn fast and that pressure is making him learn fast I mean look at Conway now. Senna needs to learn about setup engineering so 2 years is perfect anyway. He seems to have awesome driving talent but needs to go to school a bit on the cars.

he needs as much experience as he can get in GP2 and next year is too early for him to enter F1 IMO, but the year after, definite chance. He obviously has talent, the name and seeing him in a McLaren would be pretty good.

Like someone said earlier, I think by mocking the current GP2 field, Dennis is simply wanting to pump up Hamilton. He may change his opinion soon.

Yup, a world champion in the making, just like Jan Magnussen. Pity that in some cases the "making" takes forever....
