Looking for FF2000 race results for the 1984 & 1985 UK season I believe there was an event called the BBC Granstand FF2000 Championship. My need for the results is to authenticate the history of my car a Reynard-Neil-Browne SF84 sold to and driven by Tony Chambers.
Any information on Tony or his whereabouts, who incidentally was the manager of Errol Browns rock group Hot Chocolate would be of great help.It would assist me in tracking the car which then went to the USA and then New Zealand and now residing in Australia Any photos would also assist.

I have the magazine. I'll send you scans of the results if you like, but they're not much to look at - just pages of results tables (although I personally find that kind of thing quite stimulating, to be honest). Let me know your email address and I'll zip them over (I doubt if I'd be able to attach them to a post on here - not quite mastered that one yet!).

I can't remember his name off the top of my head but the guy that did Racewise is a TNF member, I think he posted in the Motor Sport thread - he might be able to help with results from 84/85.

Hi guys - you're right only did Racewise 1985 and 1986. Glad it has been of use. Can not help with any other years myself. Not sure if I still have a complete set of both years! You could try Martin Hadwen at BRSCC / Archives but not sure he'd have this sort of record. Best of luck with research. Hello Gregor and hello David, by the way and regards!

Hi Paul and welcome
I think I've got a full set somewhere, but not easily accessible
Likewise Motor Racing, which published full results 1985-87-ish

4th/5th April 1985 was the Oulton Park Gold Cup. The ff2000 Racing Displays British Championship round had two entries that I am having trouble with for the Gold Cup book vol2.

1st Giles Butterfield  number 36 I don't have a car or an entrant (probably himself) he finished last.

2nd unknown driver, car, entrant, number 75 did post a practice time of 1m 45.33s some 3 seconds slower than Giles (pole was 1m 31.45s) and def outside the 110%. They didn't start.

Has anyone got any info to fill the gaps please?

Cheers

Mike

Colin Wright has raced a dark green Reynard SF79 number 75 for a very long time, mainly in the Pre 80/84 Formula Ford 2000 series. Whether he was racing 37 years ago is a moot point but your question possibly points to him biting off more than he could chew in one of his early races by taking on the future Grand Prix stars in the main National Championship. You could ask on the Historic Formula Ford 2000 to confirm it.

I noticed Johnny Herbert racing a Talon in one of the results Darren posted. I am fairly sure that Giles Butterfield raced a Talon at least in the early season races. I seem to recall that Autosport's Formula Ford 2000 reports contained a box with all the entrants qualifying times and results so finding the relevant copy (10/4/85 ?) would probably give you information you require.
