Will this do for a boat?

And just for Lee... it's a Poly, not to be described as a 'sawtooth'!

And, having three bolts to retain the rocker covers, it's a pre-62 model engine. The bolts are the key, Lee, they tell you it's got the long crank, 8-bolt flange, that sort of thing.

There is plenty of sawtooth owners who would disagree, at least here.The owner of the SA30 Supermod  in post 141 has called them that for 40 years. And his Dodgey mates too with those engines in speedway cars and ski boats where they were quite popular for a long period.

The covers may be earlier but 8 bolt cranks turn up for quuiter  a while. Especially in trucks. And they interchange anyway, as do LA cranks. Use a stroker 360 crank in a 4" bored block and about 400 cubes. Rods too interchange, the 360 rods being the strongest,, and heaviest!

Doesn't have to be a car to have a V8!. Ford 272 Y block in 1960's clinker speed boat.

A little off subject. Y block clinkers. When out for a Sunday drive in about 68 we arrived in Milang on Lake Alexandrina and met up with some ex locals from our area. They had a ski boat, 292 powered. So out we went with the friends skiing. After a while my father thought this looked a good idea. Since his right leg was stiff [knee did not bend] he tried it on a single ski. He got up several times for a few seconds only for the bloody 292 to cut out. I dont think he ever tried again. Though he did better than my try, mid 90s,, I make a great submarine!  And for Ray,, a 340 Mopar powered bondwood hull.  which is currently for sale!

That Coventry Climax 2.5 V8 is a wonderful piece of work. This car came to Australia a few years ago where it competed at our local Easter historic racing meeting at Mallala . I think this was in 2008 and what a glorious sound it makes . I took some video footage on the old video cam-recorder. If I can digitize it I will post a link .

That Coventry Climax 2.5 V8 is a wonderful piece of work. This car came to Australia a few years ago where it competed at our local Easter historic racing meeting at Mallala . I think this was in 2008 and what a glorious sound it makes . I took some video footage on the old video cam-recorder. If I can digitize it I will post a link . 

Am I right that this car belongs in Australia. I am sure there is a thread somewhere about it.

I believe Victoria Morris sold the Kieft in September 2012, not sure where it went the photo of the engine was taken at a Silverstone Test Day in April 2013.

Lee could be confused because Greg Snape was running the car for a while...

And the Kieft De Soto had its body built by Terry Cornelius of Corowa.

It may say Lola on the rocker covers but it is a Chev! With aftermarket alloy heads.

Lee it may be only a Chev as you stated but the real issue is what brand are the Tennis Balls?
