We have on many occasions mentioned, or linked to, the excellent and comprehensive "Racing Memory" website, which has become over the years an absolute goldmine about the history of motorcycle racing . The results sections are without equivalent and, although the website is in French, the data is fairly understandable by anybody.

I have just learnt from Francis Boutet , webmaster of the Bike70 website, that Vincent Glon, the Racing Memory founder and webmaster, has sadly been killed in a traffic accident on April 24th . He was riding in his hometown on his motorcycle when he was hit by an errant car .

My thoughts are with his family at the moment, and I do hope that the labour of love that is this website will be able to survive somehow, and that all the data he has collected will not be lost for ever.

It's sad to hear of anyone being killed on the road. RIP Vincent.
Someone should download the complete site asap in case it does disappear. I would, but I'm not at home atm.

This will do the job

It's been done, thankfully. Francis, the Bike70 webmaster, has been in contact with Vincent's son who knew absolutely nil about the technicalities of his father's site, access codes etc...so with his agreement , Francis has downloaded the Racing Memory site onto his own ( Bike 70 ) to safegard it and will ensure that it survives as it is now

Yes, specially by a car that fails to stop at a "stop" sign

All bike accidents are not due to blatant mistakes by car drivers of course, but when it happens it just makes me mad . Of course we know and accept that we're more vulnerable on our bikes than inside a car bodywork , but still... Last week a bike rider was killed here in New Caledonia by a Gendarmes van (!!!!) who drifted into the incoming lane when taking a curve too fast and smashed head-on into him ....

That is very sad news. I was in touch with Vincent a few times to help with some minor details for pages on the site. He obviously put a lot of work into it - I’m glad it will continue to exist, it is a very fine legacy.

Just spotted this. Although bikes aren't my main interest I've found it an invaluable resource when researching pre-war riders who doubled in cars. Good to know it will continue.

My condolences to Vincent's family.
