Does anyone remember Rick Muther and his early years in the sport? There is very little information out there about him.

The only thing I know about Rick Muther is that the car he drove at Indy in 1970 was one of the coolest looking machines I've ever seen. And for that alone he deserves a seat in auto racing's pantheon.

I can add that he raced a Lotus 23 twin-cam in the 1964 season and was crowned that year's American Road Race of Champions winner for Class F Modified at Riverside in November.
Also, there is a good bio and photo of him in the February 27th 1965 edition of Competition Press & Autoweek on page 3. The article is about the fact that he was the first winner of the Tim Mayer Award. If you would like a copy, PM me and I can arrange to send it as I have it already scanned.
