The car to beat in RC car racing. Enjoy the quality and the precision.

Also take extra notice of the dampers they are adjustable without dismantling, with the option of being either linear or umm.. that other thing.

Pretty neat. $750USD is a lot of money for an R/C car, I suppose, but it's not a lot of money for what you see here.

Its not cheap for a RC car but it is fastest car for stock classes money can buy.

Note the support for the center shaft to stop it from vibrating.

I know the CF board is more rigid than it looks, but I am sure the torsional stiffness could be improved ten-fold with minimal effort.

I know the CF board is more rigid than it looks, but I am sure the torsional stiffness could be improved ten-fold with minimal effort.


By having a fold or bend it could easily have a very rigid chassie tub. Problem is that in RC racing you use the flex as a tuning option. Its quite the science. Xray got systems to separate flex tuning side to side from front to back.

It seems to be a bit related to the simplicity of the dampers.

Higher grip means thicker bottom plate, or all screws mounted on top deck. The Awesomatrix in the first post got some of the most advanced dampers right now. I did btw get a valved damper made by Alf skaar at rctech, (johnd might have seen hes posts) but he choose not to pursue damper tech. He made/makes hes own 1/12 car instead. Hes fully damped front suspention was/is very promising.

When it comes to low CG the no longer in production tigermoth LCG was the closest to the awesomatrix. The tigermoth was a foam racing car and since thats now dead it died too.

Hi Mat,

Yes I've seen these chassis you mention. They are pretty cool concepts, but the Awesomatix is the real deal. It is the best execution of an innovative idea I've ever seen on an r/c car.

As you very well mentioned, chassis flex is integraded in the design of r/c cars. I am sure to an extend it is also calculated in the performance of real cars, even F1 cars.
The more rigid chassis does not always translate to better performance.
I always hated flexible chassis and for many years was running really solid cars, but in the end I understood that the behavior you get from a flexible chassis is not something you can get from differently tuned suspension, i.e. softer damping & spring or softer roll bar etc.
It is just a different approach altogether.

In the most recent international race the Awesomatix broke the lap record, had the fastest run and won one of the three Amains (it is triple final format the races, each final running for 5 mins).
A bit of bad luck and inexperience of the young drivers prevented the team / car from scoring a popular win.

I recently learned that go-carts also have a flex adjustments in their chassies.

The Awesomatix is indeed the real deal. Im wondering if we are going to see leaf springs on the competition cars in the future.
