Barrichello bids farewell to single seaters, will race Brazilian Stockcars in 2013

After the end of the Indy season, Rubens raced in the last 3 races of the Brazilian Stockcar Series and it seems that, even though the results were nothing to call home, he quite liked what he saw. So, RB signed a deal to race for the Medley-sponsored Fulltime Team in 2013.

Rubens participation is considered a big boost to the series, which already features ex-F1 drivers Burti, Zonta and Pizzonia.

I hope it goes well, and safely, for him. As a former Nelson Piquet Sr fan, I am glad he has turned away from Indy. It is still very dangerous, and there was very little for Rubens to gain from competing there.

Regarding Nelson Sr, I was happy to see how well he could walk on the podium after the Brazilian GP.

There is also the possibility that he will tag along with Globo on Formula 1 coverage, right?

michael is probably rolling at his home in switzerland i assume, kind of a wuss out i'd say, he should've atleast tried his full season as a vet, not cop out as rookie.

He left as funding wasn't there for IndyCar, in the Brazilian series they actually offered him a good salary. Thou admittely not that it really matters whether the sponsor were there or not for his NA exploits, if he really wanted to have second Indy season he could've spent some of the millions he earned in F1. I guess he didn't wanna be a full pay driver...

Anyway, shame he didn't move to sportscar racing, Brazilian stock cars aren't exactly the most thrilling thing ever. Some time ago John Dagys revealed that he was actually somewhat close on driving at Le Mans (/WEC) this year, until the Indy deal came up.

Shame not to see him again @ the 500 and LBGP though.

If this is true, I am very happy that I took advantage of seeing Rubens in IndyCar twice this past season, once at Long Beach, and once at Fontana for the season finale. I had a strange feeling that it would be his last race in IndyCar.

I had been hoping that somehow Rubens would return to F1 for a team like Sauber, but I guess it isn't to be. I wish that Frank Williams wouldn't have strung Rubens along so much in December 2011/January 2012, because he could have had a proper sendoff in F1 at the Interlagos finale in November 2011.

There were large numbers of Barrichello fans at both Indy races I went to this year, and it was his presence alone that made me watch all the Indy races. It'd be nice to see him again, as it was never possible for me to attend an F1 race living here in California. It was great to meet Rubens at Long Beach, and he was nice enough to take a picture with me and sign my Brawn GP hat. I wish him the best if he decides to race solely in Brazil.

I'm just happy Rubens is racing. He's such a great guy and really enjoys going racing... Stock Car Brasil isn't the 'highest' level he could've raced in (WEC) but I bet he'll have a great time doing it!

I'd like to see him try his hands on WEC, and back to Interlagos to race in the 6 hours of São Paulo.

2013 Brazilian stock car season doesn't conflict with the Interlagos 6 hours (nor in fact Le Mans & Le Mans test day) so he could find a guest seat if he wanted, but I guess he's just gonna stick with his domestic series now.

Would've loved to see ex- Honda factory driver driving the JRM HPD, or the Cytosport car in the ALMS. Or at Toyota, assuming they're fielding third car for LM

I thought the exact same thing when I saw him walk up to do the interviews. He walked strong.

I thought the same. And it was nice to see him be friendly to Felipe Massa.

Maybe I'm missing something but other then this report, Ruebens racing whereabouts for 2013 still seems open.
