Exactly!

....looks like a big grey wiener.

I'm in the 'like it' camp.

Lovely looking car. Probably the best since the 2009 reg change IMHO.

Interesting that they've moved away from the "ramp" exhaust solution and towards the "nozzle" solution.

Big  from here :)

They've kept something of a stepped nose, or rather a central channel with a step. Interesting.

I quite like it!
But to my eyes, the sidepods aren't all THAT small.

Me too, though not for the 'grey wiener' comparison, which has made me a little bit sick in my mouth...

Hmmm, that's 4 cars that are essentially either black or a grey-type colour this year (Lotus, Merc, Sauber and McLaren). The Marussia is going to have a load of black on it as well, I suspect, and the Williams, RBRs and STRs are a dark blue sort of colour. It's not going to be that easy to differentiate many of the cars on the longer camera or overhead shots.

Yes it does look like an HRT! :p
Seriously though, I have been waiting for Sauber to go back to something akin to their original livery, so major plus points for me. Love it! :D

yeah, grey/black for an F1 car is crap. I want colors!

That happens occasionally. A few years ago there was a season with a bunch of red/white cars.

The sidepods on the launch car are squarish while the sidepods on the generated images are more conventional it seems.

My guess is that it's a shape that works well with the rest of the car. The primary purpose of the nose nowadays is to condition the airflow round the rest of the car.

Bloody hell, that is basically the same livery.

I appreciate that every now and again we do get a lot of cars with similar sorts of liveries, but it's going to be a particularly acute problem this year with several liveries being a similar sort of colour or shade as the tarmac.

They are in front of the drivers cockpit-on top.
It's a white out circular logo now.

Chelsea looking to spend money on players given their current form, not paid enough to have the bigger badge on the side this year?

They're huge. That small sidepods let them use those 'wings' there as they can't go out further than the floor of the car.

Nice looking car.

What's interesting is that Sauber have moved away from their 2011 ramp coanda solution (which was closer to the RedBull solution) and adopted the McLaren solution instead.

So far only Lotus took the Redbull route. Curious to see what Redbull and Mercedes will do.

Which is the better overall solution?

The livery is......ok, i guess.

Change is always nice in terms of a paint job but equally i'm not convinced, looks a little dull but will have to see it on the track before i make a proper judgement.

It's there, in white, on top of the nose in front of the cockpit.

I believe the McLaren solution is better for the airflow towards the rear of the car. Also i can imagine that the redbull solution is a bit heavier.

Not a bad looker, interesting mix between vanity panel and stepped nose on the front. I kinda like the livery, white cars have never really been my thing.

It's funny that Ferrari's nose went up, while Sauber's nose went down.

Livery of the year. Pity they put a kid with a bag of cash in instead of Kobayashi. Hulk and Koba, now that would be a real team.

Everyone seems to like it. I'm still trying to make up me mind. One minute I like it, the next I think the whole thing should be covered up with a modesty panel.

Another dark coloured car on the grid, too bad. God, I miss those days where we had a green Jaguar, a yellow Jordan, a light blue Benetton, an orange Arrows, a white BAR, a red Ferrari etc.

Hehe, yeah - come to think of it, Sauber is quite an invisible team. Never had so many spectacular decisions, always safe - with perhaps the exception of signing Raikkonnen. Never bad but never quite there in the front (with, exception of the BMW years I guess). So yeah, camouflaging with the tarmac makes sense :p

They've gone for a bit of a hybrid nose by the looks of it, raised edges and a stepped centre, must be using the step for a purpose otherwise why not smooth the whole thing out? I wonder if it's being used to deflect air over the cockpit opening.

Very nice looking car aesthetically, but also some great bits technically. Bit annoyed their live launch feed cut short during Matt Morris' speech but hey ho. Anyway here's my Technical Analysis: http://somersf1.blog...h-analysis.html
