What profit do you really think ANY private investor, national or foreign, would EVER see in spending tens of millions of euros to run a one off grand prix in Portugal? No one private entity holds enough power to actually profit from a GP here.

That's like saying "the state should stop paying for research on rare illnesses, it's time the private sector does it". It's completely ass backwards.

So lets leave it to Arab/Asian/African rich countries to finance. Let them host the GP's. It's not like F1 is as public service like research on rare illnesses.

Such mentality is the only reason why said arab/asian/african rich countries are rich and we are poor and sorry and never getting out of the craphole we've been in for centuries.

No it's not. State financing a GP at this stage would not be understandable in face of mass firing of people, cuts in health, education and social care. We've had enough of megalomania, euro 2004, expo 98, etc etc. A GP its not profitable so unless privates assume the risk it's not gonna happen.

I think packapoo mistook the Nurburgring deal for the already confirmed German GP as the deal for the 20th slot, on the official site the slot remains TBA http://www.formula1....s/calendar.html
