Plus Graeme probably wouldn't like it if his lad was 15 seconds off Razia's testing pace.

P2 Raikkonen (kimi seems confident of the pace of E21, and if he can qualify in top 5, he'll be on the podium)
P3 Alonso (i don't expect F138 to be dazzlingly fast, but solid car, and he'll be on the podium, somehow)

P2 Alonso - The guy is a podium machine.
P3 Button - The McLaren looks good, Button runs either hot or cold. I'm betting on hot for this race.
edit: Just noticed the OP has 4 posts since May of 2008. That just strikes me as funny but I don't know why?

Explanation: McLaren has carried their speed from Brazil over the winter, the car will suit Jenson even more this season, testing made me think they are the fastest, but were just sandbagging not to reveal it. On top of that, Jenson is quality driver and has quite amazing record in Oz: 2009,2010 and 2012 win. Also don't expect his team-mate to challenge him any soon.

Vettel will DNF
Webber P2
Lewis P3
First corner crash involving Vettel Alonso Hulkenberg
Kimi to have car troubles.
Perez a lonely 5th with Massa 4th.

The guy is a beast around Melbourne, and with such little regulation changes between 2012 and 2013, the MP4-28 can't be anything less than equal fastest. Furthermore, history has generally shown Albert Park as a favorite Mclaren track.
2.) Alonso
This man is a podium machine, even if the car is not up to it. Had it not been for the crashes in Spa and Suzuka, Alonso most likely would've scored a podium in every single one of the races post-summer break 2012. Yes, all this despite almost never qualifying better than the third row.
3.) Vettel
Defending WDC. I predict he will take pole position, as he is the man to beat on Saturday. However, for one reason or another I expect him to drop back on Sunday. Nevertheless, he'll be up there, even if perhaps the RBR car is not as fast as some may suspect.

Perez
Raikkonen
unless the macca is not as good as I think...and assuming their strategy and crew stays on top of it this season.

Secretly hoping for Kimi to win it though to spice the season up at bit It would be nice for Lewis to be on the podium, but I suspect he will DNF.

He is a gifted street circuit racer, the Williams will be gentle to the tyres and the car hopefully is fast!

Alonso, because I'm on a roll.
heh, I like that. Everybody is so convinced about SV and RB. It is by far not that clear-cut.

2) Vettel if RB is there
3) Räikkönen and Alonso are the unknowns atm regarding the cars at their disposal, but they could well take it
4) Webber finally winning it would be nice, too

Seems Melbourne can throw up a surprise once in a while so I'll take the high odds and say Grosjean. Lotus was good with the tyres last year and seems to have continued that for this year and it seems tyre wear is an even bigger factor than before, especially the first race. Grosjean also qualified well here last year so track seems to suit his style too.
qualy ... maybe, race ... no

Maldonado!

TBH, both williams have a chance to surprise, if they can qualify at the top end, and run incident free race

Over the past 4 years they could have asked the same question so to get hints who to bet on the first race..
1st Button, Because I'm a fan, he is really good here and I really think this 28 could be a rocket this year..
2nd Raikkonen, I just like his style of driving.
3rd Alonso, Because he is a Steady Eddie
4th and 5th Webber/Vettel, great car as ever but not using DRS in corners could hurt them in Q3

Hopefully he can at least be in the running for a podium and if he screws it up, so be it.
Anyone could win. Alonso.. Vettel.. Kimi.. etc.
I will say Vettel.. just because it seems the safest bet.

Seems he has a half decent car this year and that is a scary prospect.

2. Massa
3. Webber
Because that would be the most fun on this board.
