I watched the season review of 2007 last night and when the rundown of the Nurburgring came on I was in hysterics, I don't think I've seen a race where I've laughed so much.

The conditions were very dangerous (heavy rain), but there were so many cars losing it in the first corner and getting planted in the gravel, there must have been 5+ cars all stuck in the same place, Hamilton one of them and most notably he decided to keep his engine running and a crane lifted him back onto track and he continued the race!

Can anyone else share a race that had great humour (videos when possible)? Most recently I can think of Korea 2012 where Hamilton caught some astroturf, which attached to the car and he was trailing it round the circuit, but that was nothing compared to the 2007 European GP.

It depends on your definition of hilarious, but more in terms of crazy races, hard to go past Nurburgring 1999 I'd say.

Malaysia 2001 was another one definitely.

The powers that be did their best to bring comedy to the 1973 Canadian GP, and did a good job.

I suppose the climax of the 1982 Monaco GP would be worth a mention too.

UAE last year was hilarious.

Turkey 2010 as well.
Watching Vettel drive into the side of webber and take himself out of the race was mildly amusing, but was brilliant seeing horner and newey pull the WTF WAS DAT face. Made more so when Marko tried to blame it on webber.

Abu Dhabi was just mental, it definitely has a vote of 'hilarious' for me, if only for Raikkonen's messages to his engineer.

Everyone, please post videos if you can find them. :)

1978 International Trophy. Leaders included Derek Daly in a Hesketh and Hans-Joachim Stuck in a Shadow. Andretti, Lauda, Hunt, Peterson, Depailler, Ickx and Regga all crashed in the first four laps, and the winner was Keke Rosberg - in a Theodore. Tony Trimmer came third...

2005 US Grand Prix.

I was laughing most of the race on how absurd the situation was. And commentators, spectators, f1 workers were all like "wtf is this, wtf have we done".

Your video had additional coverage of when Prost entered the tunnel, so I have no problem with it mate! :)

EDIT:

That 1978 International Trophy is something to behold though, I will have to bookmark it and save it for a later date to watch the entire thing, the start is legendary.

I've had the possibility to watch races only since 2007, and from those I would agree on the Nurburgring 2007.

OT, but what on earth happened to Daly at the start of that race? I am sure that was him spinning off, and then he reappears in second place?

British GP 1975: Fittipaldi displays prudence during a late-race shower and wins, (nearly) everyone else crashes more-or-less simultaneously.

Austrian GP 1975: Brambilla storms into the distance in pouring rain, then crashes as he takes the (premature) chequered flag.

Yeah, that would be my pick too.

Mika came into the pits for the wrong tyres, had to go back on dries, then didn't give a stuff for half a race.
Irvine's three wheel pitstop clown act.
Frentzen's electronics giving up the ghost.
Coulthard deciding he wasn't going to lead soon after.
Fisichella, as above.
Ralf Schumacher's tyre blowing up.

Through the smoke comes one of the unluckiest F1 drivers in Johnny Herbert...

Anything before '83 you're right as those aren't by Bernie's mob but I've seen/experienced many F1 videos from mid-80s on being removed soon after they have been linked. Call it paranoia sure, but with a very solid foundation of evidence.

Brazil 2003 was quite amusing, with countless cars spinning off at Curva de Sol -- eg. turn 3.

What was the most epic moment of that race, was Webber saving it!

Remember that! Epic.

What is even almost spooky is that there have only been two man-invaded races in F1 history (Hockenheim 2000 and Silverstone 2003), and both were won by the same driver -- Rubens Barrichello!

Im going to side with Zippel.

Just about every thread I've seen you in youre encouraging people to post videos.
I really hope people dont do it becuase its pretty well acknowledged that sites like this are a starting point for the copyright police.
People can search for vids themselves.

 crazy race, including Rubens' heartbreak moment, the surreal confusion about the result (ending with a podium ceremony..... in Imola!) and Paul Stoddart even claiming that Jos V. could have won the race if only....

Yeah, but despite those he had quite a stretch of bad luck, including his life changing accident just before he joined the F1 ranks.

I like videos because it allows everyone to see what you see. If you or anyone else has a problem with that, that's fine. However I enjoy watching the 2007 season review, then seeing other people's honest opinion about what they find funny, i.e. the 1978 International Trophy. If you have a problem with it then too bad, because me and several others don't.

Infact, if you don't like this thread, I don't really know why you're here in the first place.

One might also say that he was extremely lucky that day.
Just a few months later he was able to make his F1 debut and finish 4th just 10 seconds from the winner!

Yes he was. But so was Mark Webber in being with Red Bull at the right time after years of woeful bad luck before 2009. Same sort of thing. :)

Just watching the footage of the International Trophy, Derek Daly was in the no. 38 Hesketh, but they obviously ran out of decals; they had 38 on the front and right-hand side, but 24 on the left-hand side. Hopefully spectators clocked the helmet otherwise they'd've thought Divina Galica had gone from last to first on lap one.

Also with half-a-dozen going off on the warm-up lap the starting grid only bore a slight resemblance to what it should have been. Either Fittipaldi was a couple of rows ahead of where he should have been, or Keegan was a couple of rows back.

Some great ones have been mentioned like Monaco 1982, NĀ“ring 1999 and 2007.

Two others come to mind: Imola 1985 when everybody ran out of fuel and the 2007 Chinese GP "We were basically racing Fernando" :D

Well that's a shame, maybe you should watch the season review, as the way in they play it back is hysterical.

Anyone who has a sense of humour can laugh at how so many cars ended up in the gravel that day!

Nothing remotely funny about that race; DC had it in the bag, he was fuelled to the end and everyone else in front him was still to pit. Then the accidents hit and the race is stopped. They count back one lap and IIRC that was when he had pitted. Completely false result ):

I certainly found the race entertaining, but that's different from hysterical. Moments like Monaco 1996 when every lap Irvine seemed to come out of the pits right in front of Panis make me smile more than constant carnage.

If I was to choose one moment from the Nurburgring 2007 race that did make me smile it's as everyone flies off around him, Nick Heidfeld makes his way around Turn 1 and in that one moment signifies a lot about what Heidfeld stood for. Solid, consistency.

Monaco 1996 was pretty lulzy, even just the first lap:

Verstappen on slicks tries to go three wide at the first corner, hitting the barrier
The two Minardis eliminate each other on the spot a few corners later
MS crashes after riding a kerb
Barrichello doesn't quite make it a full lap before wrecking

Amazingly this was all cleared under local yellow flags without a safety car (though none of the cars were stuck on the racing line)
