Don't you all just love back to back race weekends? :)

Not when followed by a 3 week gap.

I´ll say it again: it´s ridiculous that a F1 GP gets the schedule moved to help Euro lazy guys to watch the race, at the cost of the event maybe not being completed. It´s absolute madness. Shocking decission.

Yeah it sucks, specially for people on the Americas, the race starts at 2:00 am here :(

 I think you didn´t get my point. It´s not about the change bothering other people (sorry, BTW, as I´m European and this is done because of us :| ). It´s about making changes taking the schedule out of its sweetspot in the sporting aspect, for whatever reason. And when you take it so far from its ideal time that the event is under threat, especially in a place with such certain afternoon storms, it just becomes a ****ing joke. I know some don´t think so anymore, but this is still a competition, not a show, so make sure the guys compete and we´ll watch if we´re really interested, no need to make it easier for us.

It's not as if us Euro lazy guys voted for the change of schedule or something like that.
It's Bernie who's doing it for his own reasons.

I'm all for that
I hate waking up at ridiculous times to watch a race, Australia should soooo become a night race imo
Maybe they should just find another time of the year for the Sepang race

it doesn't bother me anyway, i never watch races live, cause i can't , got no TV. so i always DL the FPs, qualis and races. (Deus bless P2P and DSL  ) i think it's good without commercial breaks, also u can rewind.

the only downside is that i can't come to this or any motorsport site for SAturdays and sundays, and take part in live chats ....

but that's a small price to pay.

i wonder how many of u guys DL races from the net ...

Me, though I watch on a friends sky go account in the first instance.
Many illegal places to get onboard races and 50fps 720p torrents. I pirated the timing app as well, but when i realized how fantastic it is I paid for it. Brilliant App.

Bernie just doesn't learn does he? If this weekend's race gets shortened again because of showers and incoming darkness it's the third time in five years.

I know there is a lot of uncertainty around the weather and the weather forecast, but it now looks like dry running on Saturday and Sunday will be a bigger surprise than the opposite.
I think with the McLaren being as it is - if that is right then - a bit loose, then Button should be a contender for the win.
Based on Rosberg's running in the wet in Melbourne, it's tempting too to say that the Mercedes looks handy, but he was probably alone in going for a rear wing angle tuned to take rain into account.

If dry I think Alonso will win again.

You can either sleep or watch the race, you choose. If you prefer to stay bed, it´s no wise risking screwing a sporting event so you could watch. And it´s not your fault, it´s the guy doing this ridiculous decission fault. The decission is smart for the bussiness side (he knows I´m going to watch regardless, and you´ll watch too wih the change) but a ****ing joke from the sporting side, and an insult to the fans. The worst part is that this particular event is especially likely to get shortened and they just don´t do anything after having had that already.

if bernie had the brains to broadcast the race in Youtube 2/3 hrs after the actual one with Ads, he'd earn heck of a more money than the TV deals IMO. when Formula 1.com charges you money for live timing apps (and a lot of it), u know these people are still stuck in the good ol TV days .

The app is actually very, very good and I happily payed for it. I am willing to pay if I get quality service in return. That said I agree with you that there still is a lot to be done.

The app is absolutley excellent, and its about £1.30 a race. Well worth paying for.

2 zones

they should've moved DRS2 activation zone further back, maybe at the starting line. it's too early.

He'll lose a lot of money running the races free online with ads once the exclusivity deals with TV broadcasters are gone. There's a reason most online streaming services are subscription only, and even that doesn't bring in anywhere near the amount of revenue TV does. Despite what some may say, the internet is still tiny next to television.

If you mean Romain's race engineer, it's said that he's awaiting the arrival of his baby. Pilbeam is doing the job this weekend.

that was a sarcasm ... one lotus driver on track walk, one is never there.

you know who i meant ;)

btw, has anyone mentioned that pilbeam seems to be the long lost brother of newey ... they have the exact same style of talking :p

also, ciaron pilbeam is a really weird name for a brit.

I know what you said, it'll still be a net loss. Broadcasters won't pay out as much if the races were broadcast for free later.

Ah, OK. To be honest, I wasn't quite sure what you were trying to say and I wondered why Komatsu wasn't there. :)

I think the early season back-to-back race sets are misleading in the enthusiasm they create. Invariably a three week break follows both times and it becomes an average of one race per two weeks. I think it is just designed for easier logistics and arrangement. The team personnel don't have to spend the whole weeks on the fly. They can get their work done quickly and go back to their nests. I would prefer 'race-1 week-race-2 weeks-race-2 weeks-race-3 weeks' break format over the current 'race-1 week-race-3 weeks-race-1 week-race-3 weeks' format.
