Wow, watching the visible degradation on the Lotus there was so bizarre, seeing the layer shred from Middle to the inner side through a couple of corners was a great sight,

yes, left tyre was in quite bad condition especially on Romains car.

Kimi looks to be in much better shape than the rest in tyre management.

Force India was also very consistent

Vettel pulling off a 21 lap stint, but rears were seriously off after 16 laps or so. Trying to match lotus tyre wear?

Er, it was 21 laps for the whole session, not stint. That includes both short runs at the beginning and long runs towards the end.

Yeah, was wrong. Actually 7 laps on 1 set and 14 on the other set. No so lotus like.

The tyres were the same though!
But looking at the times it seems that RB can't yet match Kimi. On every lap the wear off was bigger, not just laps 15+. However in FP2 we'll see better when teams have made some adjustments. Lotus for example said that they will focus on tyres in FP2.

last year poll was 1:36:219....we are already in 1:36:9....cars become quicker...

Hulkenberg might be worrying a bit about his swap to Sauber right now - only a few tenths in front of Gutierrez (who got lapped last week) while FI are looking great

Tyres are faster as well, so it's kinda difficult to compare, but logic dictates that they should be faster now. Well, most are.

perhaps got too greedy about opportunities...though can't blame him....Sauber was really on a upward curve last season...

last year hulkenberg move was the right choice seeing Force india going downhill on finances and Sauber getting 4 podiums, but now seeing sutil and di resta so high up , it looks like the wrong move

Any weather updates for FP2?
I figure the lack of news means it's staying dry

I think he's on options

It is not against the rules to run options in FP1, but 99% of the time, teams don't do that. That is because they have to return 1 set of primes back to the FIA at the conclusion of FP1. They would normally use options in FP2, where they have to return 1 set each (primes and options) to the FIA.

Massa is really back to his best again, which is nice....Fernando will have difficult times with him this year, especially in qualifyings.

RBR still has not sorted out their tyres' woes. Vettel's front left hard tyres suffered serious graining after just a few laps.

Since when did Varsha get picked up by NBCsports? Surprised to hear him after being told he wasn't going to be around this year.

Herbert is a good commentator.

He is by far the worst of anybody Sky or BBC have ever involved in the F1 coverage. I'd say he usually speaks terrible BS.

He never was in that bad form. But when his car sucks.... he does the same.

Finally anyone who can figure it out. Let's just remember in 2010 and 2012 when the car was quick, Massa was always there. The difference emerges when the car is though to drive. BTW Alonso and Hamilton are the only ones who can drive the heart out of the car even when it's undriveabble.
