Anyone know where I can view sector times while incar?  It feels a bit like GPL when you could only see your laptime one lap after you finished it!

I use the tempo rivali mod for split times, BUT i am almost certain AC has an in-built split time as well, try fiddling with the UI options.

Also noteworthy, it appears you have to set a valid lap first before comparing splits.

AC has a built in sector time app indeed. Move to right side with your mouse in game and see what standard apps there are :). Delta timing works great too.

So... I was down in Italy earlier this week, on the press event. And I have to say that the game looks quite awesome right now, and what they plan to include in the 1.0RC and 1.0 sounds impressive. I must say that I actually got interested in the game now.

Man, as someone that hasn't played a new racing game since Race 07, the level of lighting effects and detail in that video is pretty amazing. The car sound isn't great, but that's always been the weak link of race sims.

Anyone know if the game would run on a laptop with a 1.8ghz core i5, 6 gigs of ram, and a GeForce 610M? I know it's relatively weak, but it runs Race 07 and F12010 at medium/high levels and if it can run this game at medium settings I may need to buy it.

PreOrdered the "DLC" that is being released later this month (11th i think it was), mainly to compare the 190evo DTM Merc with RaceRoomExperience DTM 92....and of course to get my hands on a proper Nurburgring version for Assetto Corsa :) Not that expensive either, so even if i prefer RAceRoomExperience at the moment, its not a big investment at 9.99€ and a 33% pre-order discount...

Fist, i would suggest to check the assetto corsa "forum" on steam (and there are probably other forums too you could check).

But here are my thoughts on the matter (no expereince other than running sims in 16:9 format though, so take it with a pinch of salt) :)  I Don't think the 21:9 aspect would be a problem (3monitor setups are popular in most racing sims, and that gets even wider resolution).

I do think you need a really high end graphics card to run such a resolution though (or a sli/crossfire setup perhaps?). Compared to iracing i get much lower fps in asetto, both games run over 60fps on my setup though (a gforce 680, 1920x1080 (HD) resolution, i7 3770k, 16gb ram). In Iracing i get well over 100fps all the time (though i lock it to 60 not to have "tearing"), but in assetto corsa i usually got less than 100fps, so that would indicate that it is harder to run smooth.

thank you very much for answering ... I saw a video on youtube! looks amazing with this monitor!
I'm going to buy a new computer .. I think the new Ati cards are about to arrive ... but in principle I will buy a GTX 970.
Greetings!

So, one more day to wait for the Nordschleife. Honestly the only reason I bought Assetto and very much loking forward to take a ride.

I love the fact that they have included a "special" game mode, where you start from the parking lot, then drive out, and the time is measured from "bridge to bridge", then you drive back in to the parking lot... wonder if we have to buy the "toll road" tickets too, could get expensive :)

Having been there 2 times, and driven 4 laps with my own then on that last visit, i really look forward to it... I did lots of laps in GTR2 with the nurburgring as an addon track before i went there (although i knew the track from GPL and other racing games/sims), and it really helped as i didn't need to guess what came next. I do want to return there (although i need another car then my daily drive that is an electric i3, no range to get there, although it is a fun car to drive), so until i can make that happen, racing sims will have to do :)

Mostly driven the Mercedes 190evo DTM car around nurburgring, or rahter crashed, and i really enjoyed it... Car felt a bit more stable than i RaceRoomExperience, but was still hard enough to controll properly, and the nurburgring itself is a great rendition of the real thing.

Also tried the Alfa GTA and the Alfa 155DTM, good fun, but at some of the hills you notice the "lack of power" a bit, but that might be me having driven the DTM car first.

I had only one hour to try the new 1.1 version + Dream Pack DLC. After a lap of the Nordschleife on the Alfa 4C, i played online driving the Nismo and the McLaren F1 GTR. Veery good, multiplayer makes it all more fun. The new flag systems seems to work. I have spent almost 500 hours in AC and from the looks of it I am going to spend some more hundreds (hours, not dollars..) on the Ring  :).

Having had a busy weekend, i still managed to drive some laps around the nurburgring, and i tried all the new cars that came with the DLC. Personally i find the DTM cars, and the old Alfa GTA to have the best "feel", and the most fun to drive around the nurburgring. The middle part of the track (between the two karussell corners) is just so great when you get a nice rythm to the corners... Also, i must say that this laser scanned edtition of nurburgring is just so nice. Its just as i remember it from my visit a few years back. The DTM cars are a bit faster than the toyota celica 1.8l i owned back then was from "bridge to bridge"  :)

Has anyone here had any luck with good multiplayer races? I've tried joining a few but it's strange, I don't get the booking system idea and I managed to join one where a race was already in progress, I pulled out of the pits and they'd already completed 4 laps. Not sure what the point of that is, other than inviting wreckers into your event?

AC isn't always very good when it comes to pick-up racing, it's better for organized racing :)

I live in Asia so that may not apply to you, but I often go to Marty's Aussie servers for a quick race. He is a very active server admin and keeps the server clean from wreckers and the such. If you prefer something more serious i'd suggest to check on either the official assetto corsa forum, on racedepartment.com, on simhqmotorsports.com or similar for organized races and leagues.

On another note, just today I tried again the single-player career after many months of multiplayer only, and I have to say the formula Abarth league is pretty good, AI is fast and you can have good duels. Nothing can replace the fun of racing against real people, though.

I play in the ''ALOOG'' gentleman server quite often. I had a good battle there the other day. I just broke into regular low 2.18's with the 458 GT2 (I started playing the game a week ago, and no assists). Missed my quali lap by a few seconds only  so started 15th. Good start got me an extra place, then 2 people spun in La Source. Spend the next 8 laps catching up to everyone and overtaking. I was on Soft instead of supersoft, and when the tires of the leaders (who at first where in the mid 2.17s) started to drop of I was catching them at 2 seconds a lap. Finished .2 behind the pair of them at the end!

My fastest so far is a 2.17.511, but made a few mistakes. Had a delta of 2.17.1 yesterday but messed it up going way to wide in fagness and it became a 2.17.6....

Pretty cool game.

Bought it and tried it for the first time today.

Ended up driving a ton on Vallelunga-club (the short track) with the Lotus 98T. ABS was only aid. manual and without clutch. Best i could do was 45.417.  Will be interesting to see if my collegues who have played it alot more can best it. I believe the time is decent.

But i believe now that i think of it that i can throttle a bit during gearshifts to make them smoother?. It is new for me in any car game that mechanic. I used downshifts to rotate the car on some places but mostly it was a challenge that often gave me mad wheelspin going out of any corner on that track.

Edit: Formula abarth is super fun to drive. My best: 46.092

Bestet my 98T time too: 43.051

But thanks to the little abarth i think i need to experiment on the diff settings to get some more steering into the Lotus 98T.

Edit2: Im still struggling with downshifts. Its only safe during braking and in low speed and in part throttle. Makes it very difficult to push.

enable "automatic throttle blip/cut".

On RSR Live Timing you can see and add your records.

Thanks! I really needed that. The LOGITECH DRIVING FORCE PRO steering wheel have throttle and brake on the same axis (different pedals) for some reason so i could not do throttle blip myself.

So much more stable and easy.  tryed automatic clutch.. Ditched that for now. automatic throttle blip/cut is probably half a sec easy.

It took some googling to find where it was.

For anyone else having trouble. It is in the same area as you set up TC and ABS before you start your session.

...

Yes, actually doing the throttle blip thing is quite fun. Maybe if in the future you have a pedals set with clutch and a H-shifter you can try that. It adds to the feeling of driving a real race car. you can google "heel & toe technique" to find info on how race drivers do the thing. I found out that in AC some of the manual gearbox cars are more "tolerant" towards downshifting, others are just inflexible and a slight timing mistake damages the gearbox. I had quite a few races where I had to retire because of broken gearbox.. but that's the fun of racing, and just completing a few laps of the Nordschleife with one of these beasts (98T, Sauber C9, RUF Yellowbird, F40, F312T) without crashing/breaking the gearbox is a great satisfaction.. let alone winning races!

For keyboard shortcuts and general FAQ you can check the official forum:

http://www.assettoco.../index.php?faq/

http://www.assettoco...d-shortcuts.18/

Online timing database:

http://www.radiators.../RSRLiveTiming/

(you can download and install their app to keep it on the screen while driving)

For the AC fans like me, the free update 1.2 is just out! The AI is now lots of fun to race against, there are also a bunch of updates for multiplayer etc, and 5 new cars and 1 new track (Zandvoort), also free.

had a brief run around zandvoort with a few of the new cars (gt86, lambo and audi). Need to get some more time with that cars before i can say much, but first impressions on those 3 cars where ok, with the gt86 showing the most promise and the Audi feeling mostly like a fwd.

Did a quick run at Zandvoort with the mercedes 190 dtm car, and did the same in RaceRoom Racing Experience (R3E). Don't mind the bad driving, and never mind my rather bad editing skills, but atleast it gives an impression of the gfx and sound of the two games...

Now that Spa is out for Raceroom racing experience, i did a new quick comparison. Not driven the track/car combination in Assetto Corsa before, and Spa was just released yesterday for R3E, so both laps are from the first 4-5 laps around the track with that car, and it shows :)

Laptimes are quite different, but i am more comfortable pushing the car in R3E, so that might account for some of the time difference between the sims, and the fact that i have a few too many slides in AC on the lap does not help either.

Anyhow...  the laps:

Prices range from €150-225, but as many playstation owners are upgrading to a G29, the G27 is widely available, at least over here.

I got mine for €150 from a guys who was also selling his PS3. The shifter cover is torn, it has a replacement power adapter and I had to clean the throttle potmeter as the pedal was spiking. The wheel itself looks as new.

The F40 is one of the "tough" cars to tame in AC. Turbo lag, sudden oversteer, brakes.. but when you get in the zone it's amazing. See you online!

Hehe. A while back a collegue found out you can adjust the boost on the Lotus 98T by pushing the number buttons above the QWERTY buttons.

we had all driven with 60% and im still placed 8th fastest on Vallelunga club so thats good. 3rd i believe at the time.. You can see it on the top speed recorded. The rest is 20-30km't faster on the straights..

Hehe. A while back a collegue found out you can adjust the boost on the Lotus 98T by pushing the number buttons above the QWERTY buttons.

Yes, number keys adjust the turbo on all cars that have adjustable turbo in real life (RUF Yellowbird, Lotus 98T, Sauber C9, BMW 1M etc.).

On cars that have DRS (eg. the Lotus Exos T125) you can assign a DRS button, too.

These two features can easily be overlooked but have a dramatic effect on laptimes.

New racing sims appeals a lot, though I will get them for PS4. I have zero interest keeping PC up to day with every other moment for requirements of games. I have no time, no money, nor nerdy technical passion on PC hardware so PC versions are out of question.

I notice Accetto Corsa will be released for PS4 and Xbox-One in spring of 2016.

But what Accetto Corsa has to offer over Project Cars? Bigger grids? Variations of race classes and etc? Variations of weather and time of day? Is driving feel good?

I went to AC home page and it seem to have pretty much same tracks which Project Cars has, similar cars but less of them. And to my disappointment cars of Accetto Corsa are not very appealing. I rather would like to race with old Ford Sierra than La Ferrari which is only meant for rich assholes to show other people they are better people.

Give me good reasons why should I purchase this sim?

I guess if you're owning or willing to get a steering wheel then AC has one of the best force feedback and overall "road" and driving feeling around. If you are a couch player it may not be the best choice for you. Overall the team behind AC is a relatively small one, so they focused on a few features and tried to nail them: accurate track surfaces done with laser scan data, car physics, official licenses, cars with individual personality. The laser- scanned Nordschleife is a gem in the game together with quite a few good cars. Each car has a very distinctive personality and it is engaging to learn and appreciate its character. This is what i like the most, that it's not about quantity.

I'd say it is a game more aimed at the enthusiast driver than at the couch gamer.

I have Fanatec CSR with 3 pedals and shifter (unfortunately only 6 gears and reverse, so some supercars are beyond that). Project Cars had some teething issues with wheel I have, but from patch 3.xx it has been working extremely well and road feeling from Gran Turismo 6 is lightyear ahead.

(To side note, last FF feeling with PC racing simulator is few years back with GT Legends at fellow Finn UreaBorealis.)

So I'm quite delighted about their enthuasism on car physics, accuracy of tracks and driving feeling. So far I am not impressed about Assetto Corsa (apologies about name typo earlier) car list.

Well there's the Ferraris but ok if you don't like them my suggestion is: Ruf Yellowbird at Nordschleife. Set the turbo bost to 100%, adjust the differential to make the car tail more disciplined and it's absolute breathtaking driving, just savage. Or take the Ferrari 458 Italia to Mugello, turn off traction control and enjoy, sublime.  I don't think there is anything for the PC that can match that. Personal opinion of course.

AC just released a "Japanese pack" dlc. Some interesting cars (Toyota AE86 in 3 different versions), Mazda mx5 and rx7 in a couple of versions and the Nissan skyline GT-R R34 among others. Recorded on of the first "out laps" in the Mazda rx7...

Mazda MX5 Cup is a great car for multiplayer, I had lots of fun last weekend. I also want to give everybody a heads-up on this new (free) mp service called SimRacing System. http://www.simracingsystem.com/

Register then download the app for AC in their forums. A bunch of passionate guys built it up, the platform has a whole booking system, points, ratings, it's really engaging and the quality of the drivers is good. Give it a go if you can.

They just announced that the Ferrari SF15-T  2015 F1 car will be available this July 14 in a new DLC along with the Red Bull Ring, the Lamborghini Aventador SL, the historic Maserati 250F (maybe also the Maserati 250 F T2) and another 3-4 Italian cars. Pretty good stuff.
