Is it just me or new tyres are odd. Softs can be used in race and they are WAYYY too fast compared to Mediums.
Also they put better laps on 2nd or even 3rd timed lap instead of the first one.
They are harder to heat even for likes of Mercedes (Brawn said today, that they couldnt heat fronts for Hamilton).

Aren't these changes a bit too massive?

I don't think all that odd. Whilst the compounds are the same, with the kevlar belt the tyres run cooler. Interesting to hear Lewis having trouble heating the fronts as heating tyres is not something he's typically had problems with previous to joining Mercedes (unlike Jenson for example). It might be that he's set it up skewed greatly towards understeer so as to protect the rears more and with the belief that as the track evolves the fronts will grip in.
