For a variety of reasons I have not been busy here lately, but---

Compliments of the season to you all, and may the forthcoming year be, if not better than, (but prefereably better than) at least as good as, the best you have had in the past.

It is a sobering thought that this time next year I will have hit, and with any luck passed, the dread three score years and ten. Time, one suspects, to find a way to do a few laps in a decent single seater!  (Hint to unresponsive family.)

Merry Xmas and Happy Hogmanay (or is it Hogamanay?)

I can probably sort you out with a FF2000 drive if you're ever over in Blighty...

Have a cool yule y'all. It's Winnie the Pooh and the very blustery day in Manchester, entertaining as it is watching an Emirates A380 do (yet another) go-around over Ringway ! JohnP :)

Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous and healthy New Year to all.

from a wet and windy Britain

And a special wish to anyone travelling today or tomorrow (written with feeling as I have just taken 5½ hours to get home from Chester when the satnav predicted 3½ hours - rain, wind, traffic and idiot drivers)

Now that is a notion with which I can - sadly - empathise. Come back George Davis...all is forgiven...

Otherwise, I would like to wish everyone here a very pleasant Christmas and a happy, healthy, fulfilling and safe New Year.

Sincerely - DCN

Please, please don't.  Enough.

And as for the George Davis reference!  I had forgotten that - some people have great memories.  Some of them write great books. Welcome back DCN.

Merry Christmas everybody and here's to a really terrific New Year in 2014 - or at least one where I can actually post a picture on here again :drunk:

Doug's mention of career criminal George Davis reminds me of some pre-Banksy graffiti I saw in east London near the height of the "Free George Davis!" campaign. It was on a wall in front of a filling station in East Ham. Beneath the inevitable "Free George Davis!" scrawl, a dissenter had added "...with every five gallons", which just about summed up his worth.

Maybe he's been finishing Vol 4 ? And as for the George Davis business, 1975 must seem like yesterday to DCN! Season's Greetings and all that.

Thought I'd just mention: Xmas Day in Perth West Oz: very warm, sunny, clear sky, I had Xmas Lunch on the lawn under the trees at Matilda Bay, the blue Swan River stretching out before me, with the city towers in the distance, crowds of people enjoying themselves non-destructively in and out of the water, and all the parking inspectors on holiday.

Does it get better than that?

Right on both counts...and I have been lurking here since the make-over, sometimes biting my lip.
