Can't get a definitive reply yet when I contact GRRC - anyone out there with inside knowledge know which 'langheck' 917 will be demonstrated?

Hello Martyn,

No official announcement yet, in another word : "Don't count the chicks until all the eggs have hatched"...but not many 917LH can run in this world, isn't it !

Warm Regards

The 1971 Martini-Liveried one ran at the Le Mans Classic a couple of years ago.  I believe this is 917-045, which has been re-painted to match the sister car 917-042?

This is 917-044 from the Simeone museum in the USA - It has traveled to events in the USA, but  I don't know if they would be shipping it to the UK:

Ah that's added a new twist - I was wondering about visiting Le Mans Classic again this year (I missed 2012). If the 1971 car might reappear…. mmm. (Haven't committed to the Goodwood tickets yet).

As far as I know, the only other 917LH in existence is 917-042, which is the real Martini/Salzburg car from 1970 (#25) and 1971 (#21).  I don't know whether it's in running condition, it currently is in the Stuttgart Porsche Museum and has been seen on static display there and, occasionally, at vintage racing events.

The 917-045 was originally the Gulf-livered Siffert/Bell #17 from 1971, but it's been repainted to look like the #21 Martini car, apparently.

Sorry for the delay in replying all - the 917LH attending the Members' Meeting will be the silver Martini car from the Le Mans Museum, as seen running in the video above from LM Classic.

It should look pretty spectacular next to the 512S Coda Lunga!

That's the one!

We're all very excited to see this on track with Matra, de Cadenet, Rondeau, Alpine, Mirage, J Car, and many of the great Group C cars...

In other Members' Meeting news:

  • The Group B demo is officially a 'Sprint' now, with all cars running against the clock for ultimate fastest time of the weekend. With every four wheel drive Group B car represented, this should be pretty spectacular!
  • The record Grover-Williams Trophy entry list is very nearly at the 30 car capacity - including Types 13, 35/B/C, 37A, 39, 51, 57G, 59, 50/59.
  • Same applies for the Gerry Marshall Trophy for Group 1 saloons - where the likes of Priaulx, Keegan, Mass, Graham, Pirro, Needell, Buncombe, Blackburn, Reid and more will take to track in Alfas, BMWs, Chevrolets, Capris, Mazdas, Rovers, Triumphs, 1275GT, Opel, Vauxhall, and Volkswagen. Judging by the testing that took place here yesterday, where Mass, Pirro, Minassian and Reid had a taste of some saloons, it should be exciting stuff.
  • 15-20 thousand horsepower expected to be applied to the start line as the Turbo F1s leave for Madgwick...
