Wow. Phil Bullman. Great driver who should have gone further. I remember him well. Doesn't feel like 37 years since I interviewed you at Thruxton...
Anyway, I have been thinking about this for a few days now so here goes: There was a guy working for LAT at Standard House (Motor Sport / Motoring News) in the late seventies who took pictures but they never went into the LAT files - as far as I know. He was, however, present at most if not all of the Aurora meetings on the basis that he had some contract to take pictures for the series sponsor. I didn't cover that series, but occasionally found myself there (often just for practice, for reasons I can't recall) and he was always around. I think his name was Richard Butler - I am pretty certain of that. He sticks in my mind because he caused a stir at Oulton Park one afternoon in early 1978 by lying down on the grass inside of Old Hall to take photos, which really freaked out some of the drivers - Keegan, Edwards, Villota, etc. He showed me the pictures.
It could be him as it is an Aurora mag.
If it is him, then I wonder if it is the same Richard Butler who was kidnapped by insurgents in Iraq not that long ago. Similar look. Thankfully, he was released.
