Nice. But I miss start numbers and DNFs.

And I found a mistake:

in the 1956 Mille MIglia Moss/Jenkinson did not crash in a Maserati A6G Zagato - they drove in a 350S (#3501). A big difference.....

They used the Zagato coupe (#2102) in a practice lap.

It's a tremendous effort. However, there's still a lot of checking and correction to do - I looked at three pages at random and found at least one mistake on each page.

As with any website (including mine) you always have to be careful with results and mistakes, but important to me is that I found many results that I haven't found on any other website, newspaper or book, like results from Belgium, Italy and Austria. That is most valuable to me. Combine your own experience and knowledge with this site and it might be very useful indeed. And I'm sure the quality of the data will improve over time - I had this experience too.

Thanks Roberto for all your work and I can't wait for you to finish 1967  :stoned:

It shows a lot of promise, especially for the very early races. Keep it up!

I hate to just say a load of negative comments.  Can we take it as read that I recognise the effort that has gone into producing this and the value of the information.  And I have bookmarked the site.

If I go into a particular section I find full results for the first race.  I would far rather follow a series of menus, that successively open up (rather like WSRP or GEL), eg  1953 >  Covered wheels races > Championship/ Non-Championship > Non Championship - Italy, France, etc > France - list of races

Or maybe even a logic tree so I can pick what level I want to start searching at, eg 1953 French open wheeler races, 1952 French F2 races, or 1952 French 'GP de France' series

Some form of going back other than using the 'back' button to the previous page.  I'm not sure what I'd like - maybe a menu or logic tree to pick how far up the tree to go back

I know this is asking for the moon, but a 'Search' facility would be useful

I've only had a brief look at the content so I've little to say here.  Maybe an indication of whether a list is complete and whether a result is complete.  Maybe as simple as saying 'Plus others'

I agree with D-Type's comments, Also for British races it would help if the title included the circuit. BARC Members could be Goodwood, Oulton Park, Aintree, Mallory Park etc.

One correction I noticed in browsing - 1960 June 13 BARC Crystal Palace is  the same meeting as May 24 Whit Monday Race Meeting - you can see the results are the same. In fact, not only is it duplicated but BOTH dates are wrong as it was June 6th 1960. I was there and have the programme in front of me. It was the only race meeting at Crystal Palace in 1960.

I'm not being over critical as I know only too well the challenge of getting data accurate but the trouble is someone will starting quoting it somewhere.

@D-Type it's very inetresting the system to see various championships...it's only a development issue! only the main page is in PHP to do search, i'll try to improve this script...

@Frank de Jong - it's already done! are missing only a few race meetings in Englands (are really a lot every week) and some trans-am race...stay tuned!

I agree with D-Type about the need for some sort of menu system.

Congratulations for your great effort. Putting on line all those results certainly took an uneblievable amount of time.  It can became a solid reference source but, like others before me pointed out, it needs considerable editing (a youthful five-years old Jean-Louis Schlesser would certainly be a prodigy winning a monomill race in 1954... most likely his uncle Jo) which I guess you would consider as the next step once all results are published.

However, one thing puzzles me. Why the insistence on the so called real names? I would argue that your interest in putting your site on line is to share the information with other enthusiasts. Many will come to it through search engines and I very much doubt that a lot will be looking for John Arthur Brabham instead of Sir Jack. And then there is the problem of consistency. Alfonso de Portago appears as such instead of his very longggg name, just to give you an example. Just think of the huge spanish and portuguese names you will have to input to remain faithful to your logic. Furthermore, you increase the probability of making mistakes (John Michael Hawthorn becomes   MIchael J. Hawthorn, Norman Graham Hill appears as Graham Norman Hill, etc.). Let me give you another example: I think it is in a Marathon de la Route result, you have the team Relp/Boyens. It is actually Robert Reip and Reggie Bovens. It took me a lot of time to find out the first name of those two gentlemen and believe me even if I wanted to help I would certainly shy away since Reggie is of course a diminuitive, thus unacceptable to you, meaning you are reducing the size of the good samaritans trying to give a hand .

Of course it is your site and you do as you please but wouldn't it more reader-friendly to use the names by which the drivers are/were known  and in some cases insisted the press should call them like that? Just a thought...

thanks nexfast for your comments about names. I thought only it would be better to insert real names. I thought also to insert something like John Arthur "Jack" Brabham but i was in doubt if it is a correct way. So i ask to all what is the best way to insert names and surnames.

About Jo Schlesser in 1954...sure it's an error i wanted to insert Joseph Schlesser not Jean Louis, Prototype world champion 1988-89 on Mercedes...with all data i inserted it's difficult to find errors! thanks!

You should refer to people how they were generally known. This is for ease of reference, but also, it's kind of disrespectful not to use someone's preferred name. For instance, Graham Hill was Norman on his birth certificate, but probably did not answer to that name and preferred to be called Graham.

Hello

Is it me or is this website not working anymore?

I had no idea its creator was here on TNF. The database really promised a lot, but I think it wasn't properly developed thereafter.

Best Regards
