Mine is now showing just 8 threads - it is updating the order/latest post etc as the threads are being posted to,  but never shows any additional threads.

I haven't been able to see any problems (and it's certainly not the big database collapse that was causing the problems last year).

Can you let me know exactly what the problem actually is?

I think the one I would call 'usual' - I select view new content and get message / screen Sorry, no new content found - And this regardless of how much new content there really is. I did clear my history out yesterday, so likely brought on myself then question will be how did I break it for myself?

Except it does not work in both Firefox and Chrome.

What happens if you choose one of the other options on the left, such as new content in the past 24 hours?

Past 24 hours did not work.

Past week worked, and after it did the whole thing works correctly.

I am a good again thanks.

It looks to me like just the 'past 24 hours' and 'past week' options are broken. 'Unread' and the other time options still show for me.

YMMV?

Yes, anyone experiencing this issue should try the following. For me 'past week' works. The site remembers the setting and now when I press new content it works every time.

Hmm. If we're all seeing different things, then maybe it's a cookie issue?

Possible yeah. But tbh I prefer to not delete all my cookies frequently. But it sounds quite evil if the most frequent 'View New Content'-button hitters are the ones that most often have this issue  :D

If "New since my last visit" is checked .... No New Content

If "Content I have not read" is checked ... New Content

Works o.k. for me at present, but I only ever try the "view new content" when I find a new entry on this thread!

It may also be that I'm using old technology compared to the rest of you.

It's borked.

I find there are threads missing from the listing if I use one of the 'working' options and would rather the thing just worked  .  Pretty please...

Mine is back, until next time I guess.

But when it was off, and I went to the forums I view to manually find the new content, I found threads with old posts that had not appeared as 'new content' when it was working. Borked? Maybe ...

I am getting this problem too.  Look at individual fora and you find threads that are not shown in the general new content screen.

Nothing's changed in the past week - I haven't been able to replicate/identify any problem which isn't fixed by choosing "past month" rather than a shorter timescale.

It seems like it's coming and going and acting in different ways for different people, so it's a bit difficult to work out what's actually causing it...

Nope, it is back again.  Several new threads just don't show up in the View New Content screen.

I don't wish to be rude, but I'm going to be anyway.  Some of us pay for this, and for something as basic as a search function to collapse with alarming regularity, is complete, total, and utter dogs***.

This coming after an "upgrade" that was meant to make things better - and which instead has made things a lot worse.

And that's leaving aside the elimination of live chat, one of the most monumentally stupid, cretinous and ****-wankingly moronic decisions to make, and one which was made with zero consultation with the paying public.  Which of course you have promised to bring back, but several years on, it is apparent that this is a lie.

So get it ****ing working.  It's your ****ing job.

I had been trying to apply for a credit card from Nationwide on-line, but the system repeatedly failed halfway through.  In the end, I had to visit my branch for a Skype session with a charming lady in their Bournemouth office to get the application done and she admitted that they had an IT problem.  If a major financial house can't get their IT working properly, why would you think this is such a simple fix for Autosport?  It is annoying, sure, but hardly worth spitting the dummy over.

I wonder if we should be talking to the new owners, it seems like this is beyond the abilities of the Autosport clan ...

I feel sorry for you poor pommie bastards, if this is an example of how Britain is going to become great again after brexit.  Better start a thread where we can see addresses for the food parcels ...

And again.

Since you seem to be the one who is seeing this bug the most often, could you be a bit more specific with what's actually broken for you?

I've just tried all of the normal search and "view new content" options and it's working on my end so it's a bit difficult to know what we need to fix unless you let me know what's not working!

The last time this was discussed, most people found that the "view new content" option was working properly if they selected a longer timeframe in the list of "by time period" options on the left of the page. Does that make a difference to you?

Working now.  For the first time today.

I only ever use the View New Content link, no other options.  Comes up with "No records found."

Working for me too now.  I use VNC, with 'forums';  'since my last visit'; and 'filter by forum' selected.  Filter is for Nostalgia, RC and Technical forums.

A work around that usually works for me is to keep selecting longer time periods until one comes up with results, but that is quite unsatisfactory as it usually has many pages, sometimes 6 or 7, or more.  Unlike you Grayson, I do not consider this to be 'working properly', maybe 'working after a fashion'.  As a short term fix for a problem it at least gets a list of results, but it just makes the user's job harder.

The next time that happens, could you select something like "six months" from the left if that's not already selected?

I believe that one of the issues which was tripping some people up was the forum not recognising when your "last visit" was, such as thinking that you landing on the homepage a few seconds before clicking that button was a separate visit) and so not showing any content...

Ok.  That is consistent with my trial and error process of selecting successively greater time periods until one works, just skips a few iterations.

Are you saying that going to the Autosport home page prior to clicking VNC is being registered as 'my last visit'?  Or the forums home page?  I do the former sometimes, but never the latter.  I have not previously associated going to the Autosport home page with failure of VNC, and rather doubt that this triggers the failure every time; if there is an association, I think it is more random, or something else is also involved.

Worked this morning, after visiting Autosport homepage first.

Not working now, 6-7 hours later, when visiting VNC directly (no prior Autosport visit).  Tried successively six months and year, no deal.

Tried again (to check details for this post), and it worked with both 'one year' and 'since last visit' .  Interestingly, only two threads had been updated over that period, seems low to me.

Sigh.
