Stirling Moss collection

Diecast Legends are marketing a Stirling Moss Collection of twelve 1/43 resin models produced by Matrix.

At £100 each every 2 months, I think I'll give it a miss as I have several of them anyway.

Their choice is intriguing:

3/  Sunbeam Talbot 90 - 2nd 1952 Monte Carlo Rally

6/  Mercedes 300 SLR - 1st 1955 Mille Miglia
7/  Maserati 250F - 1st 1956 Monaco GP

8/  Vanwall - 1st 1957 British GP

9/  Aston Martin DBR1 - 1st 1959 TT

10/  Ferrari 250GT - 1st 1960 TT

11/  Maserati T61 - 1st 1960 Nurburgring 1000km

12/  Porsche RS60 - Retired 1961 Targa Florio.
I would like to have seen the 1948 Cooper 500 or the 1951 Kieft-Norton, or a rear-engined F1 car, say the 1958 Argentine GP Cooper, 1960 Monaco GP Lotus, or 1961 Nurburgring Lotus 18/21 rather than the Porsche RS60.  Or stretch it to 15 or even 20 cars.

Got 'em all (plus a further 60!! - I really must get out more). And of D-type's list I am missing only the Keift-Norton. I don't think anyone has done a 1/43 of that vehicle, in any colour scheme/ number/ configuration/ driver, finished model or kit.  I was somewhat startled to see, a couple of years ago, that a collection of Moss cars, about 80 thereof and mostly 1/43, was sold at the Goodwood Revival Bonham's auction for £6,000.  Does anyone have more information?  Was it somehow very special - or are those of us with similar collections going to have something of value to leave to our children after all?

The most expensive one in my collection is a made-up SMTS Aintree 250F, (made-up by SMTS themselves) in green and signed by the man himself, a Christmas present a few years ago from wife and daughter. I also have several either rare or even unique models, such as the '55 TT 300slr in the state in which it finished, rather than in which it started, and various re-paints and re-numberings for specific races. These last include a 1/18 of the Dundrod Merc with correct number (10) and three-spoke steering wheel. Most Moss Mercedes that one sees have a four-spoke wheel, which Moss used only once, in the car he shared with Fangio at Le Mans. I also have a one-off 1958 BGP Aintree BRM P25 (2nd) done for me by Barry Boor of which, when I showed it to Stirling, the latter remarked that 'he [Barry] has got the colour absolutely spot on'.  Mr B was quite chuffed.

I was also wondering why no Lotus 18 or 500cc Cooper, but I do like the fact that the Sunbeam Talbot 90 is on the list.

The HWM F2 car was produced as a kit in 1/43 by Penelope Pit Lane , a UK brand , long out of production they do appear on eBay , Try John Shinton Models , they were produced by a friend of John's, good hunting

Yup thanks, I know they do resin bodies for slot cars but in 1/32.

I am actually after 1/43.

Jade Models do some of the later 1952/3 HWM single seaters, but I am still hoping for a 1950 offset car to be produced.

I'm sure if you approached SMTS they could do you one based on their Cooper-JAP 1000 and the contents of their parts bin.
