As many of you will be aware, we enabled HTTPS on the Autosport Forums some time back.

This was a bit of a half-way house, and some of the pop-up warnings you will have seen during that time would warn you that the forum was "semi-secure"; you could still choose to access it via HTTP and it was still possible to embed images from HTTP sites.

As of today, the forums are now fully HTTPS. This means that if you attempt to visit a URL with the HTTP prefix, you will be redirected to the secure site. Forum members should have more protection from password ("man in the middle") hacks and malware injection - and you may also see a noticeable improvement in the overall speed and performance of the forums.

The changes mean that you won't be able to embed non-secure images on the site. If you have previously posted non-secure images from a site like Imgur which offers both HTTP and HTTPS links, the forum software will automatically replace these embeds with something secure - almost every image hosting site supports this, so you shouldn't spot many dead images on the site.

Please let me know if you spot any bugs or glitches.

Also, please let me know if it's all running more smoothly than before or if you're happy with the change - it would be nice for me to be able to pass some good feedback to our dev team from time to time rather than only letting them know when things are broken!

The images are still all working in Frood's Detroit OP. Rejoice!

Well...

The changes mean that you won't be able to embed non-secure images on the site. I use a private server to host all the images I post on this site. It doesn't support https, so now all my old links are broken and I won't be able to host any new images. I'm probably the only person affected by this, so I'm not surprised if there won't be a fix on the horizon. Oh well.

As an addendum to this, it appears that the like buttons have disappeared from the mobile version of the forum since this change.

The ‘like’ buttons are still there on my mobile (iPhone 6 using Safari).

Definitely an improvement for me, with the annoying browser warnings gone, and the knowledge of improved password security. Thank you folks.
