Hi.

When I browse this forum (or start a new topic/reply etc), over time I get more and more instances of the current page in Firefox's session history (i.e. the record used for going back). It looks like it's caused when the banner ad refreshes.

Here's a screenshot which shows the problem (I used right-click to bring up a list of what Firefox thinks are all the previously viewed pages):

It doesn't seem to occur in Opera, but I prefer to use Firefox (probably out of habit and not wanting to change things). In Opera, I don't see the banner ad even though the ad blocking option is disabled and there are no plugins. In Firefox I have AdBlockPlus, but it's disabled for this site - on the condition that ads don't cause problems.

Edit: I think it's a Lycos Life advert. That's the one I see most frequently. I sometimes see one for a website I recently visited, but that doesn't seem to cause the refreshing problem.

Just to eliminate things, do you see this behaviour in Firefox Safe Mode?

It does, but it was a good idea to remind me to check.

Thanks R Soul.

I've asked our developers to take a look at this. I've seen the Lycos ad a few times, so that should be an easy one to find (though I won't guess how easy it is to fix...)

Update: It's still happening, with the Lycos ads still appearing to be the culprit. I followed the link above, and changed one setting (browser.cache.frequency_experiment to -1) but other settings may cause problems with other sites, so I won't be changing them.
