Hi everyone,

we've been playing around a bit with the Halo:

to see what the effect is on aerodynamics, if it can be used as an advantage.

I'd be cool to get your feedback on my article!!

Please, feel free to mail your comments to wouter@airshaper.com

Talk to you soon!

Regards,

Wouter.

As Wolfgang the German would say "Very interesting..."

The small drag penalty you describe would be significantly offset if any downforce was produced.

Seems to be a blatant piece of advertising to me.

Each team would have studied it much more than this.

There is nothing new or innovative here. In fact it seems rather trivial in comparison of even the smallest F1 team.

Just someone after free advertising.

Shut up Dog.

You mean steal not steel wouterremmerie.

Thanks for the article. Keep sharing articles, the technical forum needs some more action. Be it good or bad articles.

I will not "Shut up".

While I neither seek to influence the content nor quality of discussion here, I DO object to being suckered in to looking at some website I did not wish to.

It's the equivalent of spam or junk mail, in that it's cheap advertising & wastes my time. That is not the purpose of Autosport forums.

If you do want debate, then I would say the results are worthless because as even the most inexperienced of aerodynamicists would know,

the aerodynamics of the whole car come into play, not just a chassis section.

I have not seen you post in the technical forum before so naturally starting of with critic is not ideal. It was interesting enough. Drag penalty was stated and so on.

It is not always practical to survey a whole car. The immediate region of the halo is a reasonable study for a control volume analysis -- to see what happens around the halo, just there in the air with different air flows. It is something that an engineer might test to see how the halo has different effects which nobody else has spotted.

What do I think really? If the halo is built out of bent and welded titanium tube, that is what race viewers should see. Covering it with plastic diminishes the spectacle. When a car rolls over, it will be the metal tubes which save a life. But plastic looks sexy.

What you have seen or not I really don't care about.

Whether a first post or not why should anyone be restricted to "ideal"?  What is "ideal"? It's just your opinion.

Who are you to say?

If you only bring negativity.. what is so much better about your post?  Ignoring a bad post is not rocket engineering. It happens on this sub forum all the time.
