A very practical question for once.

I want to replace my Varley 40 red top with a LiPo battery . Varley have a Li Po in their Li -16 with 670 cranking amps for 5 seconds BUT they specifically say it isn't a match for the 40 which has 600 cranking amps under a different  standard.

The application is 477 C.I./ 7.8 litre Chevy Big Block at 11 to 1 CR.

The red top 40 cranks it fine but I don't want to spend a lot on the wrong Li Po battery!

Any thoughts please?

Braille makes a lot of good batteries. You might look into those.

Honestly, unless it's a pretty serious race car, I'd buy an Optima or similar and save the $$$.
