... And it's exactly what they've done. From the post-race interview, Johnson knew *exactly* what he was doing

From the 1’s onboard, it looked like Menard came down and Johnson went up just a fraction each. I‘m hesitant to assign blame to anyone, mostly because the 480p video NASCAR posted on YT isn‘t 100% conclusive with the tools I have at my disposal (read: old tablet screen paired with the video’s suboptimal resolution), but also because I don‘t think the contact would have been intentional. If I was forced to make a conclusion, I‘d say racing incident.

Usually I would agree, but it's NASCAR, and when it's either plate racing or short tracks, it's perfectly fine to wreck others to win. I think he failed at what he actually tried to do.

That wasn't great, hopefully the 500 will be better, although we've seen this single file running at plate tracks before

As for the end, despite Fox Sports attempts to blame Menard, Johnson turned him round, it wasn't subtle but no worse than what Austin Dillon did last year. Upside is that there was virtually no one at the track actually watching this!

Wow, it was pretty atrocious wasn't it. Might be rose tinted specs but I remember last year's Daytona 500 was night and day different to that single file stuff. How can it have changed that radically in twelve months? Hope they magic out a fix in time for the main event.

I just had bad dream watching the sporting news that Brad Keselowski died in a crash. It was so real that I hit up all the racing and sport sites to make sure its not true. I'm glad its not.

Christopher Bell is another Cup story to eye for 2020 and beyond. Possibly Jones seat at JGR, or the 95 until JGR opens up?

I hope he leaves that #95 alone. Matt DiBenedetto is our 2019 feelgood spirit guide so far.

DiBenedetto, in the #95 with their new JGR alliance, I have vague hopes that combo could replace Furniture Row as the good news story.

Let’s cheer for him tonight.
The race is on FreeSports TV here in the UK and Ireland.
That’s free as in you get the channel for nothing.

An important race for seeing how the new rules package impacts this season, and also the long term development of the next gen car.

Only 37 starting?

Looking forward to it. Expecting good runs for Kyle, Hamlin et al, Stenhouse doing his usual and crashing or dropping steadily back, maybe Suarez the best bet to spring a surprise, would like a good result for Almirola from the pole too.

I don't know what to make of this race so far.

But I like it. The speed difference is way palpable though.

Closing races again an issue for Larson. Not making any progress through the back of the field.
