This has happened to me a number of times. The latest time here. I author a forum post, submit it and an included link is missing from the post when it is published. Could we please perhaps turn off any software features that are capable of editing or altering a member's posts in any way without their permission- at the very least in the Paddock Club?

Happened yet again, see Saudi vs. Turkey thread in PC. I've been at the ACP of a PHP forum, turning this off isn't a big technical ask.

Do you use the infinity sign button to post links?

I've often lost ones I've put in as just text (which I assume is something going wrong in the software that detects text that is meant to be a link, and which tries to convert it to a link), but never lost one I've included using that button.

Happened to me a few times, when I'm just copy pasting links from the browser address bar, they just disappear.

If I want to create a link to text, obviously yes. It's generally more polite in my circles to put links in as plain text urls so the person reading the link can clearly see the domain the link is pointing to whether on a desktop, tablet, or phone and make a more informed decision on whether to follow the link. Doing this also has the added benefit of helping the poster remember to remove all the tracking elements from the urls added at the end that are routinely added to links in the wild and that recent browser builds tend to conceal, even in the browser address window.

You can also post the URL longform using the link/infinity sign/lemniscate button and then just pasting the whole URL in there. Has the same effect as posting the URL as plain text (at least it does when posting in plain text works).

You'll need someone who's more of a BB Code wizard than me to work out a way of posting in a link that the forum software doesn't automatically style as a hyperlink.
