I notice from comments that a lot of folk find it very difficult to show their photos. This has been happening for years here and must put a lot off. There are thousands of shots stowed away which we will never see, that is why our numbers are falling, very sad.

There must be an answer rather than this forum failing.

Hopefully Roy

Absolutely correct Roy, when it is so easy to post them on Facebook forums, why is it so difficult here ? Seems we are still a generation behind the rest of the world.

As has been explained on several occasions, the primary reasons that Autosport doesn't offer photo hosting are:

1 The cost of doing it. This has been the case since the earliest days of Atlas, when storage and bandwidth cost serious money. As of a few minutes ago the board had just under 8.4 million posts - if even 5% of those included hosted images we would need MUCH bigger servers to cope. And I would remind you that access to the board is free, gratis, for nothing.

2 Copyright. Autosport's owners - Haymarket and now Motorsport.com - are both big fish and would not wish to get involved in being sued for hosting images which might infringe somebody's copyright.

Uploading pictures from remote sites is NOT difficult. Problems only really occur when - as has happened several times - previously free to use hosting sites have changed their rules.

This worked for me on this forum recently and was really simple:

Sign up (free) to www.postimage.org.

Click on the “Upload” tab at top of page.

Click on “Choose images” (then pick one from your files).

Then from the list of links, select and copy “Hotlink for forums” code.

Then paste this into your forum reply on the Autosport website.

To see a preview, click on the "More Reply Options" tab at the bottom of the forum page.

That's how I posted this photo of dear old Charlie Sanby :) .
