Somehow, the development team have managed to corrupt this now. What Will Power said to his team on Sunday springs to mind.

It appears to be Windows 7 specific. On Kindle and Windows 10 the front page loads as it should, in Windows 7 it is not. Story pages do load correctly.

No doubt the plan is to let Classic Autosport crumble until there are so few users left it can just be shut down.

Pity, because the newer one is frankly, well, messy. It's hard work to check there what the latest headlines are, as some self-important AD has been given free rein to express his/her trendy "creativity" with scant regard to things like practicality, or perhaps we are expected to use a term like "user friendliness".

Maybe the idea is to steer people to motorsport.com where the same news stories come for free. Visually it is little better than autosport.com, but still easier to use.

Is there no one with the common courtesy to respond to these problems? Perhaps I should drop James Allen a line.

I guess in the big picture the problem is we're having to communicate with a System, a gigantic robot (with humans as some miniscule cogs but without freedom to use their own brain), which has been programmed to only address approaches that are seen as profitable for the Company.

I use the classic page and quite a lot of the video stories don't have the video in them (they may appear at the bottom of a related story), if I want to watch a video I have to go to the new page and find it there.

Thanks,

Steve.

Where, on new Autosport, can be found Calendar feature from Classic Autosport, please, which is used for searching article archives back to 1999?

Nowhere! Strangely, even access to the digital magazine is via Classic Autosport+.

It has been promised on this very forum a long time ago!

They promised us that we'd get the Autosport chat back 5 years ago, look what happened to that.

Already posted this on another thread without thinking. This is where it belongs:

And now they're saying classic.autosport will soon be closed which means good-bye from me, as far as digital Autosport is concerned. Their "modern" site is messy in the extreme and I simply will not bother. So all that's left is to see how long the print issue can struggle on.

Agreed. The "new" website is just horrible. Can just about cope with each article if you use a Reader View mode so as to override their layout choices, but browsing the news is not a nice experience.

I love the 'Corporate Excuse' in the screen message...

"In order to provide our users with the best website experience, the classic Autosport site will soon be closing.
You can continue to enjoy our content at www.autosport.com"

How can closing the website be the best experience? Tell the truth Autosport.... you're saving money and effort at user expence!

They would 'provide me with the best experience' if they supressed the bloody pop-up, eveytime I change screen in Classic

Please, please don't close the classic site Autosport. The new site pales in comparison to the old.
Rob and others, I've never had this pop up problem.

As an Autosport reader since the early 1950s they would do me a favor if they would let us know when they intend to axe the Classic version.

My problem is that my present subscription is due for renewal near the end of this month which will automatically renew unless I take prior action.

I am prepared to hang in there if I am to get my moneys worth of the Classic; if they are to axe it soon I want to beat them to it by voiding my renewal info.

Regards

It's gone now. I think with it my subscription. The journalism isn't as good as it once was, the website is terrible and I don't think its worth my money. Will now start looking for an alternative.

I was probably the last person on earth to use MyAutosport but still I feel kinda sad it's gone. I've been using it since the very very beginning and it has been my home on the internet for so long!

I used it every day for many, many years, especially as it also served as a one stop shop for world news. I can't stand the dogs breakfast look of the main site, in the case of Formula 1 news the same story is repeated at least three times, main news, in the list of news, and then as 'trending news', and as a means of communication it is anything but communicative.

I have been looking around the 'new' hideous website and it is still as friendly as a cornered rat.

I found that if you click 'Archive' on the top bar you get a usable listing similar to Autosport Classic news page

Shhh .... don't tell Autosport, they'll close the page

Yeah, better than motorsport.com for the time being. Although it means having to go through the awful modern Autosport site again, but still, it's only two clicks. Thanks , Rob!

One of the perks of being a programmer is that you can make your own stuff... which I did now

It's not perfect yet but has the basics. I still need to figure out how to get into the paddock club forum.

Place a request with the Paddock Club mod Slartibartfast (PM)... that should do it.

Probably not!

It would take quite abit of time to make it ready for other people to use it. If for some reason I end up in 2-3 weeks quarantine I'll think about it

But look at the number of people responding here, nobody but us 'old timers' cares. Everybody gets their text feeds from somewhere else now, so why can't Autosport understand that? Make integration with motorsport and  the 'rest of the world' a genuine thing again and not an increasingly irrelevant part of the world feed?

I too much preferred the Classic layout :( and I don't seem to be seeing much in the way of News under "F1 News", just historic articles in the main which is not "News" although I do appreciate there isn't much news at present and I practically need to search for what little there is.

It's suggesting I should upgrade to Autosport Plus despite me being logged on and having been a magazine subscriber for more years than I care to remember. What's that all about? Is it different to my subscription?
