Hello everybody,
Thanks to the generosity of a 92 year old acquaintance, I have acquired approximately 20 very small models of prewar Grand Prix cars, from the era of Nuvolari, Varzi, Rosemeyer et al. The man is a real enthusiast and it has been my privilege to listen to him recall his visit to Donington in 1937.
The cars themselves are approximately 2-3cm long, obviously a very small scale. They were specifically commissioned in the early 1950s to that scale to match the cloth/fabric outline of Reims this acquaintance had. He estimates it was about 20cmx30cm, something like that. Unfortunately he has since mislaid the circuit, and as I am not very good with my hands, making my own diorama or fabric circuit is out of the question.
All I can find from the era are 1:43 dioramas. If anybody knows of where I could find a fabric/cloth outline of any "Grande Epreuve" circuit, or a very small scale diorama, I would be most grateful.
Thank you
