Trackforum?

Does anyone know what's happened to Trackforum?  I keep getting a "Not Found" message. 
Has it died or simply changed something?

Yes, it changed to:  https://www.trackforum.org/

As Ray noted above, they did email everybody, although I was already aware of it, as there was a sticky thread on the old forums.

If you didn't get the email maybe you need to update your contact details, Duncan? Your old login details will still work on the new site.

Given the areas it focused on, I would have nevertheless learned stuff there!

Thanks folks.  I have located the new site and logged in with my original password and its all working perfectly.  I don't know why I didn't get an email - perhaps the site has an ancient email of mine.
I agree with all the comments.  The site is insular with membership split between those who believe the world ends at the boundary fence of Indianapolis Raceway and those who admit that it extends to the rest of US racing.  But within their blinkers there are some knowledgeable folk there.

It also helps if you skip warshipping Senna and/or Lewis or who-ever and accept the fact that AJ Foyt is `God returned onto earth`.
At least that was my feeling during that time I visited that site.

There are some knowledgeable people there...

But their focus is usually narrower than you find here.

It's still alive and well, though obviously not a patch on this place.

Reminds me of a joke I once heard (or read, more likely): a racing driver dies, and goes to heaven. He's absolutely thrilled to learn that the Heavenly 500 is just about the start as he arrives, and manages to find a ride. Midway through the race, he gets passed by car #14, with the letters "AJ" prominent on the helmet of the driver. Distressed, our driver stops at the pits and expresses to his pit crew his disbelief about the apparent fact that Foyt had bitten the dust also, at which his crew chief retorts: "Foyt? Oh no! That's just God, he only thinks he's AJ Foyt..."

An oldie but a goodie. I think I first saw it in Playboy in about 1973.

There were also the opinions of  the sheer blasphemy that any rich Brazilian could take a cockpit at Indianapolis that by virtue should have been gifted to any American born youngster who learned the job of driving race cars in Large&Loud stock block powered, unsophisticated, front engined cars by powersliding on the `next to holy` dirt tracks....

But I must grant those Roadster fans one thing. Seeing them, they are nice, great looking impressive cars to look at, no denying that....

January 16th 1986. I enjoyed it so much I took a couple of copies. As you have probably guessed I still have one handy. Who was the original star? Jenatzy perhaps.

As far as insularity in the membership at TF, so that makes it similar to the Brit-centric and F1-centric forum here then?    Aside from that, I concur with the comments. There are definitely some good and knowledgeable folks at TF, but it is plagued by long-standing feuds from the "split" era that keep going at a moments notice. There is also an element there that doesn't take kindly to having their folklore corrected, as Michael, Don and I have found out...about every six months or so

Excuse me, I did receive an e-mail, on March 23rd. But, the new forum had already been up and going by the time I received it, so it was sort of old news to me 

EDIT: I had gone by the postings at the forum announcing the change, which were some time ahead of the switch.

Wasn't it a Roebuck Column about the ultimate track Tony ? 

It has been years since I was there,  banned because I did not think Walter Cronkite was God's gift to man and dared say what two faced leftist he really was, but when I was there I did not see it any more biased to an area of sport they are familiar with than this one is on the Racing Comments site but then as I said that was years ago.

Now it was a very good site for information on stock car and Indy/spring/super modified up to the mid-eighties.

Some of the boys there were at truly big track sprint car races when sprint cars ran at places today some would think you are full of bs if you said they ran there.

I have looked at it on occasion during those years but it is pathetic compared to what it once was.

Ray, I don't know whether that is where Buford's tirades took place, or whether it was another figment of his colourful imagination. Sometimes, it was hard to tell with him

And knowing the gentleman fairly well, I don't think very much was from imagination.
