Best driver: Hamilton, Albon
Worst driver: Kvyat
Best team: Mercedes
Worst team: Ferrari
Best overtake: Leclerc on Vettel at the start
Best moment: checkered flag
DRS + tyres: overtaking looked harder than expected, tyres meh

And the race in a sentence: Total borefest, not even a midfield battle

Rated it a 3

Pathetic race, unless you're a Lewis/Merc fan.  I'm disappointed for the sport that this was the best it could do for the 1000th race. I'm even more upset that with engine rules staying the same (it seems), the future looks grim too.

Very dull, won't bother with the questions this time.

The least enjoyable race for me so far this season (yes I know it's only the third race), I scored it a 5.

Mercedes with another 1, 2 finish and less action in the midfield contributed to my giving this race a mediocre score.

Best driver: No one did anything spectacular this weekend. So I guess maybe Hamilton.
Worst driver: Kvyat, played an excellent team game though, wipe out another team so his teammate could get a point.

Best team: Mercedes

Worst team: Williams/Haas - Where has Haas pace gone? They were touted as topping the midfield and being a half second out front by some teams, yet on race pace they’ve been nowhere these last two races.

Best overtake: I’m really struggling to remember one off the top of my head.

Best moment: The start which really shows how lacking in excitement this race was.

And the race in a sentence: Poor, felt like there was very little on track action, desperately needed some rain. 4/10

I was going to give it a 5, but I awarded an extra point for Ferrari's comedy pitwall routine.

Best driver: Albon
Worst driver: None come to mind really, was going to say Daniil but I can't blame him really.
Best team: Same as the last 5 sodding years
Worst team: Ferrari
Best overtake: There was an overtake?
Best moment: The chequered flag
DRS + tyres + other: Still not a fan of DRS or 'Cheese' Pirelli tyres

And the race in a sentence:

One of the most boring races I've been in the last few years, truly a dismal 1000th race.

Rated 3/10 -  wanted to really give it 0 but was feeling generous.

Worst driver: torpedo is back. real question however is - when will Kvyat be fired for good?
Best team: probably Mercedes
Worst team: Ferrari, this is a yoke
Best overtake: was there any?
Best moment: the race was so dull, i can't recall anything good

And the race in a sentence: i regret waking up so early to watch this, was hoping for so much more

Gave it a three - probably a bit too generous. A few more races like this and I'll be taking a break from F1 - it needs more close racing to keep interest and the last few seasons just haven't had enough of that.

3/10 and I only gave it that for the very brief Max Vs Vettel battle.

Everyone else was just too far apart on the track to make the race at all interesting.

Best driver: Perez
Worst driver: Kvyat
Best team: Mercedes
Worst team: Ferrari
Best overtake: Perez first few corners passing both Haas and 1 Renault
Best moment: checkered flag
DRS + tyres: DRS looked underpowered because of strong tailwind. If strong headwind the race would have been totally different. Tyres way too hard and fickle as always.

Race director a ****ing joke 2/10

Very boring race. Hopefully people can drop the "Ferrari is the fastest car" narrative now. 3 1-2s for Mercedes say it all, even if Charles should have won the last race.

Best driver: Albon
Worst driver: Kvyat... But Gasly has me thinking that if Ricciardo had been in the second Red Bull, Leclerc would have finished 6th
Best team: Mercedes
Worst team: Ferrari
Best overtake: I can't think of any
Best moment: The end
DRS + tyres: Huh...

And the race in a sentence: I'm *really* looking forward to IndyCar this afternoon...

That's the first time I think I've ever given a race 1/10. There was simply nothing about it. It was dogturd. From the moment Hamilton beat Bottas to the first corner, the winner was never in question at all. The battle between the Ferrari's was ruined by team orders. Verstappen drove off in no-man's land and got himself fourth when Ferrari messed up. Behind the Verstappen no-man's land was an identically painted car to his only driving half a second a lap slower in his own massive void. The midfield battle was pretty static and tame. It was dull as dishwater.

Best driver - Carlos Sainz (made up practically a minute on the midfield after his early dramas)
Worst driver - Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat both lame advertisements for the Red Bull talent pool at the moment.
Best team - Williams. Ha-ha, I jest. Okay, McLaren then. Ha.
Worst team - Ferrari, obviously.
Best overtake - ????
Best moment - a Mercedes 1-2 was a refreshing change to the norm.
DRS/tyres - not as much action as most races here. I don't really like this track or this event, but the racing is usually better than that.

The race in a sentence - Not much to recommenzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz he's gone.

Bring on the Grand Prix of Long Beach.

I think this was the perfect celebration of one thousand championship grand prix weekends because it felt like the typical F1 race: team mates lined up two-by-two on the grid and some quick battles for position happening on the opening laps only to be followed by a pretty dull affair for the next hour and a half. 4/10.

Horrible race. Not much racing, lots of team orders and just seemed unenthusiastic and like everyone was happy it ended. Such a shame.

Hamilton is just too good with Mercedes. Though I can understand why some of his fans enjoy it, as a child I liked Schumi+Ferrari era.

Sport needs something to freshen it, after last big reboot, Merc has won all championship and something like 75% of races. This has been a long, let me emphasize LONG period for neutral supporter.

Boring, predictable, rubbish looking cars on another bland tilkedrome- same old story really

Even qualifying is boring such is the Grand Canyon sized performance gap between the top 2 or 3 teams and the rest

Only interest was start of the annual Ferrari implosion

Already feared this would happen. Exactly how it panned out last year until the SC.

I´ll give it a 4/10.

Best driver: nobody really stood out

Worst driver: Long list of candidates... Stroll maybe?

Best team: Merc

Worst team: Ferrari

Best overtake: Gasly on Kimi (I think) perhaps?

Best moment: Ver & Vet

DRS/Tyres: DRS not working. Tyres were ok I guess.

I've been an F1 fan since 1968. I'm sure I've seen at least 95% of all races broadcast on American TV from that tme. I always looked forward to an F1 weekend. I felt no excitement ahead of this race, and my worst fears were realized. I fell asleep half way through. Best team Mercedes, worst Ferrari. Can't comment on the rest. Didn't see it, don't care. I guess I'll watch the next one out of stubborness, but I doubt I'll feel feel any excitement. Thank goodness for Indycar.

A "classic" that ended in a Mercedes 1-2. There's been good and bad years before, but I don't see this year ending any different from the previous 5.

It's like all these cool kids who 'fall asleep' have never seen a boring F1 race before. Not every race will have an action spicing SC or closed pits to artificially randomise the result, etc.

Best driver: Albon - that boy just looks fast (the little we are allowed to watch - see comment below). I wonder if Gasly's worried yet ?
Worst driver: Robert Kubica -He pulled out and backed off after a good getaway because he didn't feel he could race anyone. He is probably right of course with the travesty that is DRS defensive driving for any prolonged period without being a complete ******** is almost impossible. Still while getting back onto the grid is an enormous achievement if he isn't prepared to race in those few moments when his crap car allows him to what is he doing there? Give the seat to Ocon or anyone actually willing to have a go at being a racing driver.   Dishonorable mention - Lance Stroll who was yet again a long way off his teammate's pace (and really that's our only way to judge these guys.)
Best team: Mercedes - Same as last race, and the race before , and the year before, and the year before - do we even need to have this question anymore?
Worst team: Williams -  every week it's Williams and has been for over a season now - don't think we still need this question either.
Best Almost overtake: Max on Vettel. I'm sure there were plenty of other real overtakes in the mid-field with Alex Albon for example making up several places but the TV producers are so bloody obsessed with watching Mercedes and Ferrari's driving round and round in circles that none of these are ever shown.
Best moment: The checkered flag being waved by Prost. Not only did it end this boring farce but brought back memories of real races involving greats like Prost and Senna - good times.
DRS + tyres: I wish they'd just admit neither DRS or these crap tyres should have any part to play in motor racing and get on designing the alternative. I also watched the ELMs race (41 cars!) and they actually have a tyre war going on. It was great to see but it just begs the question why if ELMs can have tyre competition are we denied it at the so called pinnacle of the sport?

(And while I'm talking about ELMs on an Autosport site - you guys really need to improve your coverage of this consistently great series - where is the report ?)

And the race in a two sentences: It was somehow fitting that the predictable Noah's Arc 2 by 2 grid and the procession that followed it to celebrate the milestone 974th WDC  race run to F1 rules was in China, a country and circuit with no memory of real Grand Prix racing. A shop window for everything wrong with this sport business.

As there have probably been around 900 better races in the sports history I rated it a 1

DRS + tyres: Domination + team orders make a bad bad race.

Only thing I remember from this race is Ferrari being Ferrari and screwing themselves, and Kvyat being handed an over the top penalty for over steer. Seen far worse pieces of driving go unpunished.

Guess it comes with reputation.

But yeah I regret getting up early for that race.

6/10 for me.

Best driver: Hamilton

Worst driver: Bottas

Best team: Mercedes/RedBull (RedBull race strategists are the best. They made Ferrari look slightly more shite than they truly are)

Worst team: McLaren

Best overtake:Leclerc on Vettel

Best moment: Vettel holding position against Max. He probably really needed that. Max and Lewis have been making him look a bit silly recently, but he dealt with Max really well.

DRS + tyres: perfect because DRS is a curse and the tyres are there to mask the flaws of these hybrid engines so don't blame Pirelli.

Why are so many people voting Ferrari as "worst team" ? I really don't understand it at all. They were clearly the second best team being worse than the Mercedes but better than the other eight. It's not a two team sport guys, not yet anyway even if those two want us to think that, the TV producer largely pretends that it is already, and those two want the 2021 rules to enshrine their dominance. We are here because we are all motor sport fans - let's resist.

Horrendous borefest, annoying Ferrari team orders, bullshit Kvyat penalty, not a single memorable overtake.  Score = 1

One of the many times F1 made me sorry I stayed up for the overseas race...

Best driver: Albon.  The only thing to at least feel kinda satisfied about at this race.

Worst driver: Gasly.  One MINUTE behind Verstappen?  Come on, man.

Best driver: Albon, honorable mention to Raikonnen
Worst driver: Kvyat
Best team: Mercedes
Worst team: Ferrari
Best overtake: ???
Best moment: Best in terms of most memorable: Leclerc being told to give way to Vettel
DRS + tyres: The tyres made for interesting decisions, but little in the outcome emerged from it.

And the race in a sentence: Admiring the continued awesomeness of Hamilton and Mercedes, they keep finding a way.

Best driver: Albon, Shout out to Mad Max. Not a fan but the guy is the real deal.
Worst driver: Stroll
Best team: Mercedes, Red Bull
Worst team: Ferrari finds a way to make a scene out of team orders
Best overtake: Red Bull undercut strategy in the slower car.
Best moment: That Merc doublestack pitstop and Red bull nicking the fastest lap point from the Reds (Thanks Christian! )

And the race in a sentence: Mercedes were well prepared and Ferrari need to work on the small things.

Yet they somehow managed to throw away a 4th spot, even though they were clearly the second best team (as you said so yourself). That was a terrible team effort.

Shouldnt be about how good the team is in relation to the other teams, but about are they maximizing their result (and more importantly, what´s the reason they havent been able to maximize it). In this case, in my opion they failed to maximalize the result due to a pretty big strategic blunder.

With that approach you might as well give all points after Qualifying. Ferrari tried to race for 2nd. It failed, big deal.

That happens when you try to beat a faster car on strategy. Sometimes it works and everybody likes it, and sometimes Vettel gains a place and everyone moans it doesn't work.

I dont understand that comment at all. I´m not saying it´s a big deal. I just thought they completely messed it up and left LeClerc hanging in a ridiculous fashion. And apparently, I´m not the only one.

It was a poor attempt to get a 2nd place (by switching Vettel & LeClerc too late, and then having LeClerc trying to hold up Bottas with way too old tyres) and they threw away a 4th place for that. I call that a bad performance.

I managed to stay awake and watch (except when I went and made my breakfast), only because it hadn't reached the finals stage in the Singapore 7s tournament - That said, it was really lively compared with the Indycar race from Long Beach, that I turned off. Maybe this evening's catch-up on MotoGP will be more exciting... No spoilers please!

Best driver: Albon - I thought he did well considering that silly crash (self admitted mistake as well)
Worst driver: Stroll - Should be doing better considering Ocon would've had the seat otherwise.
Best team: Grudgingly Mercedes. Pick up the points and wrap up this championship early so we can all look forward to 2021 and beyond.
Worst team: Split between Ferrari & Renault. Shows how much RBR were carrying Renault along. As one of the 4 manufactures expected atleast a close fight between them and RBR for 3rd place but no. Ferrari, WTBF!!! They should hand the titles to Mercedes now after that pathetic show!
Best overtake: Can't recall any. Max's move on Seb did create a bit of excitement in an otherwise non event!
Best moment: Run down to turn one. Died out after that
DRS + tyres: Cars cant seem to follow each other closely despite the aero reg update and maybe that's due to the way the tires behave in dirty air (overheating/degredation). Gosh the amount of marbles just after 10 laps? F1 had a chance to change something re tyres from 2021, ie introduce more than 1 supplier or more durable/tyres that can be pushed to the limit longer but went with Pirelli and i understand it to be more of the same high deg compounds. Do they honestly think all teams will push those tyres to the limit and do more pitstops? All races seems to indicate 1 stopper unless ofcourse someone tries to be clever and forces everyone to 2 stop. DRS too powerful in Bahrain and almost non-existent in China. Then again, not surprising as the only place DRS would be effective is the back straight and the cars are not close enough to each other to even warrant an easy flyby! hopefully RB and his technical minions can come up with more natural aero-regs for 2021

And the race in a sentence: I should have stayed in bed.

Was gonna give 3/10 but i wasnt feeling very generous today. 1/10

I'll be giving up watching Baku in favour of watching Avengers: Endgame next time out! I also can't believe i'm gonna say this but i think i may start watching FE more regularly. The dreary humming of FE cars seems interesting that this **** show!
