Spa Historic Six Hours 2019

As in previous years: Is anyone on TNF going? Our tickets have been booked ages ago. It really is a very enjoyable event, even for someone jetting in with Ryan Air from Denmark...

 

It seems every GT40 that was ever built, plus a few of the additional ones that weren't, are coming to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first Ford [Lola] victory at the Vingt-Quatre Heures du Mans.

 

For some reason the Ardennnes event is held very late this year - the last weekend of September, rather than the typical second (or even third) weekend of September. Does anyone know why that is? It bugs me no end as I've checked the weather for the typical weekends, which was and will be fabulous, whereas the prognosis for the last weekend approaching October is rather dire...bugger... 

The entry list for the ( historic ) Spa 6 Hours race features no fewer than fourteen Ford GT40s . How many were built in the sixties ? You probably wouldn't need to use more than the fingers on one hand....

The reason the Spa Six Hours is later than it has been is because the Goodwood Revival was held a week later than usual and to avoid a clash the Spa organisers moved their meeting back . Presumably the ELMS race which is being held this weekend had already been given their date thus the Six Hours was moved to the last weekend in September . I am sure you will still have a great time at a meeting which is a big favourite with the British Historic fraternity .

Almost certainly none. The Autosport report on last year's race rather pointedly stated that all of the GT40s were recent builds.
