The previous decade saw arguably some of the most glorious years of GT racing to date, and there's no sign of things slowing down on this front! We start off the year pretty much on the same note as the previous one ended - in pouring rain with the race red-flagged.

Wait. That's not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Well I don't need to advertise this stuff, you GT-buffs know the drill. Daytona just around the corner, then Bathurst, Sebring, former Blancpain, IGTC, N24... and so it goes.

May the racing gods bless these fantastic events and grant us plenty of safe and entertaining racing for all this year. And if some tired fan were to succumb to the forces of too many snacks and brewed beverages in the midst of a sportscar dogfight held in the middle of the night, may their wake up be to a howling 5.2 litre V10.

Let's kick this year off with some Dubai 24: https://youtu.be/jLqvQRhXKXY

The commentator team appears to have gone wandering around the United Arab Emirates in a hero's quest to find a local pub.

4 min penalty and twitter-users in racing saying that behaviour was mild, that they would done the same or worse...

Time to start giving proper penalites.

Race will not be restarted, unsurprising given turn 2 of the track looks like this:

I was wondering why they'd red flag a 24hr race in Dubai due to rain. I thought it was because they had no wet tyres (as they probably didn't think they'd ever need them in Dubai). Clearly I was wrong! No choice but to red flag it.

For a place that is built on sand the drainage is surprisingly poor... 😂

I watched the 12h of Sicily for Copa Florio, first since the 80s, I learned. Mostly GT3 cars with one lonely prototype which had too many issues to be a factor and some touring cars. Big win for GPX Racing Porsche. I enjoyed the race, although it was low tension - just two pleasant afternoons at Autodromo di Pergusa.

The most excited I’ve been for a race all year. Bit of a shame so many of Audi’s big guns have dropped out but they’ve still got a mega line up with Vanthoor/Mies/Van der Linde in the #31. Porsche also with a dream team of Bamber/Vanthoor /Tandy. So many Porsche drivers missed out on the ring but they’ve got all their drivers at this one and maybe 6-7 cars that could fight for the win.

So Marciello on Pole. Not great as I am not a fan. A friend of mine works in one of the Lambo teams, Emil Fray racing, so I am rooting for them. The race is long, so qualy is not the end of it. Nbr 24 showed it pretty well.

Drivers are making an absolute mockery of the track limits. Completely ruining my enjoyment of it. Possibly the worst I’ve ever seen. Stewards should have imposed track limits on the last corner after the first qualifying.

Oh my word. This is absolutely shambolic.  I thought you were talking about running wide at Blanchimont...but no...You really meant the The LAST corner. That is shambolic.  Shameful driving standard.

It'll be even worse in the dry.

They're completely ignoring the white lines/kerbs and extending the track as they please, I actually stopped watching yesterday.
