Are you already sure the operation was a success and there are no complications or does that take more time?
Wont know for sure until the bone graft completes mate.

Great seeing the car out on track, especially those on boards. Really got my F1 itch back - which I managed to stow away for most of winter.
I know you can't base any judgement of these tests - but still. The car looks extremely stable, almost slightly understeery. Could be setup, could be my eyes are tricking me.
However, having a very stable car to begin with and then bringing it more alive seems like an easier and more optimal route than having a very lively car and having to reign it in.

According to AMuS Red Bull will use the Mercedes 2019 approach: Basis version in week 1, big chances in week 2. "Only the paintwork will be the same in Melbourne"

And a very promising start with the amount of laps! That´s the one thing you want to lead during testing.

That was interesting, the car looked pretty happy on mediums, a little loose on the rear on hards initially but 91 laps is awesome for the morning.

Well, since the same paint is used, the parts where it is sprayed upon won't change as well.

167 laps for Red Bull and 282 laps for Honda. Nice!

Max on today’s session
https://www.autospor...ere--verstappen
Max Verstappen says the new Red Bull car is "fast everywhere" and its reliability has improved as well, following the first day of 2020 Formula 1 pre-season testing in Spain.
The Red Bull driver ended the opening day of action at Barcelona fourth overall in the standings, just over half a second adrift of pacesetter Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes.
Verstappen completed the most laps of anyone with 168 across the day, and was bullish about his first day with the RB16.
"The car is fast everywhere, which is a good thing," said Verstappen about his first impressions of the car.
"And the reliability seems even better, so that is all very positive."
He added: "I think it's been a good day. The car has been working really well together with the engine, and that is what we want to see.
"For us that is the most important.
"I am very happy about that. We just want to learn the car and try things on the car and see what we can do."
Although Mercedes was clear at the front, Verstappen said that his team was only focused on itself and was not reading too much in to the times.
"We're not looking at that," he said.
"We just have to look at ourselves and focus on what we can improve.
"For us it was just about turning laps and testing different things. That's what we did today."
The only dramas Verstappen suffered during the day were two spins at the final chicane, which he escaped from both times without hitting the barriers.
"I touched once the gravel I think, that is why I spun," he said.
"And once I lost it in the second corner, so these things can happen trying to find the limits with the car and what we can do.
"Luckily no damage, which at the end of the day is the most important thing."

Yeh its not a nice op, they go through the front of your neck to get to the spine and have to move everything else out of the way, hence the life support.
Have a look on youtube for acdf surgery, have your dinner 1st lol

The way the RB is packaged from side pods onwards is insane. Way tighter than anyone else.

Not so sure, the Merc looks amazing as well. Look at how much of the rear suspension you can see, the Red Bull seems a bit bulkier.
Posted 20 February 2020 - 07:58
RB has left more space for air flow above it's brake duct while Merc has channeled that space into brake duct.
I meant the yellow bit.
Posted 20 February 2020 - 12:57
The RB16 has it's steering connect to the other side of the upright compared to Mercedes. If that little trickery of today means a lot of time, Red Bull is pretty much in trouble.
Unless they push the steering in at acceleration and pull it out at braking, which is unnatural.

Any updates from the red bull camp gents? Hoping to see RB at least challenge Mercedes

There is a lot of space used by rule, not by desire on the top of the nose. The system doesn't look overly complex.

Packaging is amazing. Best rear of the field, better than Ferrari and Merc. Whether it translates to lap time is another thing.

Definitely not better/of a smaller volume than the Mercedes although more elegant.
