So for testing 3 days per test makes things a bit awkward. Will they split the 3rd day or not!?

The totall number of testing days is even. So they could do Max - Alex - Max and then next week Alex - Max - Alex.

Or, like Ferrari is gonna do, D1: Vettel. D2: Vettel/Leclerc. D3: Leclerc.

2nd week they put all the new bits on the car so I think they’ll split day 3 in both weeks.

From an interview (German)  with the owner of the RB teams:

Dietrich Mateschitz: "Best preparation for a long time"

Red Bull boss Dietrich Mateschitz looks to the upcoming Formula 1 season with high expectations for a good reason.
Why are you so confident for the new Formula 1 season?

Dietrich Mateschitz: We have clearly the highest expectations this year compared to previous years. Our engine partner Honda did an excellent job in winter. On the test bench, we drove kilometers like never before without any problems (around 5000). The engine enables us to be at the forefront in terms of performance and stability.
Formula 1 is a good sign that the teams at Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri remained the same ...

Yes, continuity is important, everything is well coordinated. All key positions remained the same. The initial difficulties that we had at Red Bull Racing in 2019 will no longer exist this year, we can already say that.
Is the computer data real?

All data from the computer and the wind tunnel are better than last year, and we are confident that they will also be reflected on the track. That means we can hope to fight for the World Cup.
Are the same driver pairings for the pre-season also an advantage?

In any case, since everyone has already proven their skills. Max (Verstappen) has what it takes to be a champion, Alex (Albon) was most amazed at how he mastered the difficult tasks in his first season. And Daniil (Kvyat) and Pierre (Gasly) can also keep up with the top.
Have you signed the new basic contracts between your teams, the FIA and the F1 promoter Liberty that involve a lot of money?

Not yet. But it is only a matter of drafting details. I don't expect any problems. Time is not running out. We also drove a time before without a basic contract. But everything is ready for signature.
So far, Honda has only been committed to Formula 1 until 2021. Will it continue then?

We still have two seasons to choose. It also depends on our services.

finally somebody asked Marko what this "he needs a competitive engine" exit clause means.

"The engine has to be within two tenths of the best engine"

So next question then: how can you prove that?

Also interestingly he says that AlphaTauri was upgraded from a junior to a sister team

RB will have their own measurement tools to compare the various PU's.

But if I would be Max, would I trust those figures presented to him when it's exactly within 2 tenths?

Exactly.

I dont think that it will ever come this far, but imagine a judge has to decide on this. They would probably take the measurements of a neutral party. That will be the time for Renault to return the favour

Ok, I'll get my coat.

“We have a long-term agreement with Max,” Horner told Sky Sports.

“I think Alex is doing a good job and we have a good dynamic within the team.

“Experience shows that two alpha males doesn’t tend to pan out well.

“Sebastian Vettel is still a very competitive grand prix driver so I don’t think it would be conducive to our team to have two alphas.

“We are happy with the driver line up we have.”

Also, as much as I love Max, I would not really call him an alpha male. He's still closer to a kiddo having fun and enjoying life.

On a race track and within the team, that dude is for sure an alpha. Kinda wish I didn't reply now though, because I actually think a lot of that stuff is often a load of bs anyway.

Well you brought it up. Alex has done one season and only half of it was in a Red Bull. He has every opportunity to try and beat Max just like Max had every opportunity to try and beat Ricciardo. :)

I brought up Albon specifically in regards to Horners comments. I didn't bring up what other teams might be doing with their drivers, that's irrelevant here.

Somehow I think the dynamic has changed at Red Bull since Ricciardo left. Max is firmly the number 1. Same thing is now happening at Ferrari with Vettel departing.

Everyone said Ricciardo wouldn’t be able to challenge Vettel yet he did and won so it’s only fair you admit defeat when he eventually got beaten by Max. Now moving on.

Horner: Red Bull has nothing to fear from cost cap

Reflecting on why Red Bull had supported a package of rules that will in theory make it harder to win, Horner told Motorsport.com: "I think you've got to look at what's right for the business, and sometimes self interest is outweighed by interests of the sport.

"I've taken a holistic view of this, and I believe the cream will always rise to the top at the end of the day. So whatever the regulations are, it's down to us to adapt to ensure that we're as competitive as we can be.

"It's something we've been successful at doing over the years and we'll have to apply that again with this set of technical sporting and financial regs."

I think this can only be good news that Red Bull is feeling confident it can adapt easily to the new regs and still allow its team of people to stay intact by just moving them around on other projects within Red Bull. I think keeping hold of talented people will be key because they can swap and change them around at any time between different projects.

Talking to David Coulthard, Max Verstappen provides CarNext.com an update from Monaco.

Asked about the pending start of the Formula 1-season, with the first race being held on 5th July in Austria, Max says: “I feel fine and I am ready for it. But that can be expected after such a long break”, he adds with a smile. “I am looking forward to getting started again.”

What are your expectations for the coming year? Any chance regarding the championship? Max: “As a team we want to win with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. We want to be able to fight for the championship. That is our only goal. Everyone is enormously motivated and I cannot wait to get back at it again to see where we stand. Hopefully it will be an exciting season.”

Like what?

I'm pretty sure Ferrari is 3rd or even 4th car. Mercedes is probably first but if Honda can run their engine within 0,1s Max Verstappen got a chance to make this season interesting.

Make that .1 s for the overall car and I'll agree with you. The car design of the Mercs has been superior as well. It's not only Honda who has some catching up to do.

Max just needs a car within a tenth or two of Mercedes. I think there's an argument to say that over the past 18 months, he's been the most consistent performer across the weekends - even Hamilton had off weekends last year and Bottas isn't consistent enough.

I truly believe he's in for a stellar season.

I wouldn't say Hamilton's had any more off weekends than Max last year. He's still the most consistent over a season
