Apparently there's maybe some talk of pushing everything back to Thursday? Makes a lot of sense given the sections of brand new asphalt + cold + wet.

@prommer - I meant your Twitter link
Oh! You're right, it IS gone. Looks like it got ixnayed by somebody.
Even more reason then for:

They haven't officially red flagged the afternoon session, which starts in half an hour (2:30 eastern), but the temp is still under 50 in Austin, so it's looking unlikely to me....
(from racer: "A combined track and ambient temperature of 100 degrees is broadly-accepted benchmark for the lower end of the tires’ operating window, but three-quarters of an hour after the track went green, the thermometer was still showing an ambient temperature of 44, and a track temperature of 45.")
(not YOU, Prommer... but this news. I HATE WEATHER!!!!!!!!!!)

Posted 11 February 2020 - 19:41
Per Cara Adams, Firestone is waiting for a "couple more" degrees of temp before they allow them to send the cars out.

Nothing definitive. No word from Carlin about anything beyond today's test. Nasr went out for an install lap. Sette Camara has not gotten in yet.
I enjoyed the fact that TK said he was working hard to get him and Helio to run a full season together as teammates at Foyt. Didn't work out.
For 2021, Jimmie Johnson is apparently in line for a few races with AMSP, per PT.
The guys mentioned that Scott McLaughlin is there to keep the other Penske drivers nervous, especially Willy P.

WTF! Kevin Lee mentions there's a "TBD" driver for Penske listed for an oval test at Texas on Friday.
TK, with a wink in his voice says, "you know who that is..."

I had to work, but my wife and son went to practice.
My son just got the experience of a lifetime! He is a big Simon Pagenaud fan. He went to his first race last year on his 2nd birthday and picked Simon's car as his favorite. He always says "Where's Pagenaud" when we are watching.

Haha. College fund, Karting fund ... it's fungible right?
The best part about last year was when my kid kept asking "Is Simon going to win Daddy?". I was explaining how he had a tough year last year and he might have another one. Then he went ahead and won 3 races, including the Indy 500

If there's dry running it will be interesting to compare times to the wec lmp1's coming next weekend.

TK mentioned possibly some Thursday morning running. Anyone hear any more about that?

I haven't been keeping up. Who? Who is TK running the ovals with?
Posted 11 February 2020 - 23:34
TK's still with Foyt for ovals, sharing the car with Dalton Kellett, while Charlie Kimball and Sebastian Bourdais are sharing the other Foyt car.
At the end of the session today, the team managers met to plan out the rest of the test, but because they haven't yet released any updated schedule, I wonder if they're holding off on officially adding Thursday until they see how much they get in on Wednesday. That's my guess. Some of the teams do have that Friday test at Texas Motor Speedway, and I know it's a relatively short drive up I-35 to get there, but I'm sure they'd rather not force themselves into a tight space by testing on Thursday, if they can help it.
Posted 11 February 2020 - 23:36
As for who's the "TBD" driving for Penske on Friday, I know who I WANT it to be, but so far I seem to be alone in making a big deal of it of it possibly being a big deal.
Posted 11 February 2020 - 23:44
It would help if I checked twitter before answering questions. No Thursday as of yet, just a lengthened Wednesday. Looks like I'm getting up early tomorrow:

Accuweather saying clear for the rest of the day, going over the sacred 50degF mark at 10am, climbing to a dizzying 60 in the aftrernoon.
I dare say we'll get some images of cars with some grip.

Cannot get over aeroscreen, from certain angles (front) it looks so oversized, cars look clumsy/unwieldy with it , at least we had two years of great sleek looking cars .

So. How did aeroscreens cope with rain?
They talked about it a little yesterday during installation laps. It seems like it might actually be better, but until we get all the cars in a pack with insane spray ... it's probably hard to know.
