Sooooooo... Scott McLaughlin will be doing the oval test at TMS tomorrow, like I predicted.
Fast tracking the cobber then.

Didn't want to tempt fate before but I was sure Scottie would do alright. But 3rd... wow!
Its an open secret he wants to leave Supercars and challenge himself. I think he'll go well in his one off race and be on the grid full time in a season or 2.
Posted 13 February 2020 - 14:29
Apparently there's only Gateway that's not clashing with Supercars (as far as ovals this year). But hopefully that's part of his grooming for a full-time engagement next year?
Then again, I shudder to think who he might replace at Penske. Can we just make it 4 Penskes, please?

Competition is good.
It drives those three to be their best.
Mind you if Simon wins the 500 again, which it possible , given what Moyer and Bretzman know.....
DJ Willy P may be heading for the gallows.

Dutch report on Veekay's test: https://motorsportz....-op-cota-26527/
Had two runs in the final stages on new tires interupted by red flags. Too bad, I wondered what he could have done. Why was Daly so much slower?

I actually really like the aeroscreen from most angles.
It's best seen from the back of the car.
DEFLECTOR SHIELD
Repeatedly shouting DEFLECTOR SHIELD isn't convincing anyone. It's an aeroscreen, unless of course you are in Star Trek mode......shields up,Mr Sato.
I like the aeroscreen a lot, but there is also a line cutting through in the middle so not much of a difference to Halo unfortunately.
Indycar have done a fine job of taking F1's unloved halo and making it worse by glazing it.

And that just reinforces my point. Its purpose is to DEFLECT incoming objects to SHIELD the occupant, not to screen aero.

Totally. You know you have a healthy series when there's a bun fight for seats.

I love that they did this. I wish they would have picked another angle for the photography, because I think we now know that the front quarter view is, well, AWKWARD.

Oh dear, that wind deflector thingy needs a lot of time to get used to.
A.. lot..
I'm thinking Max's argument wins the day--it's clearly a DEFLECTOR SHIELD. But's it's already background.
Can't wait to see these guys at St. Pete. With even Foyt looking racy, and the rookies looking veeerrrry promising, it should be a great year.

Thanks! I also just wrote this to Robin Miller's mailbag. My quest to make this term catch on shall continue.
Now watch him NOT publish my email!

Alright already, but why do we need to SHOUT IT EVERY TIME?

Good luck. FWIW, I think your efforts to create a new popular term is streets ahead* of Chevy Chase's.

Same reason we always shout VEACH.

Just watching the test on YouTube and hearing that Oliver Askew has now named as this year's Young American.

Why did I think he was British?
Because you hadn't watched this?

Because you hadn't watched this?
Very much so. I don’t really follow the US junior formula. In a way I like that way, as each season I end up discovering a bunch of new rookies in Indycar that I’d never heard of.

Why did I think he was British?
I did too for the longest time. Kinda just assumed that right away, must be something about the name.
Posted 15 February 2020 - 13:16
He's half Swedish, y'know.
I tell ya, the Swedes are taking over IndyCar.

And SAATTOOOOOOOOOOOOO!...and now PAATTOOOOOOOOOOOO!. That's fully justified and hallowed by forum tradition, but for a piece of junk that is basically a glazed halo? No way.

Why did I think he was British?
Did you also imagine him escaping the workhouse and living by his wits amongst the urchins of Dickensian London?

I see your error.
It's DEFLECTOR SHIELD.
Not DEFLECTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR SHIIIIIIEEEEEEELLLLLLLDDDDD, like we're introducing it at an NBA game or a WWE event.
If and when it catches on properly, I'm sure it will be lowercase.

The sheer fact that now y'all are actively discussing the DEFLECTOR SHIELD shows me that my strategy is working
