And as already said, this team always spend a lot of time when they swap drivers since 2016 at-least. Let's hope they speed up the process or change the driver only once in the remaining 5 testing days.

team say there is no issue, may simply be waiting for better temp / conditions to conduct meaningful running

Yeah I thought that, you could see the presenters breath on Sky because it is that cold.

Surely you'd do a lap to make sure it's not leaking :p

The RS20 does some RB levels of sparking this season.

And you could see that when Gasly span with rather lower speed in T9.

Just an installation lap tho??

Anyway he's running now and looking OK

"We'll be looking at some performance items on the car using the C2 and C3 compounds. Yesterday, we ran as expected with everything running as planned. Both drivers felt happy in the car and are looking to build mileage and confidence through the week."

The website initially said C2 but changed to C3 - no idea whether he pitted, but have to assume it was C3

Been in the garage for a while now...

Hardly any laps again for Daniel, just like he had comparatively less than most others yesterday too, very frustrating, why do Renault do so few laps year after year????

Bit concerning that Danny ric has only completed 17 laps, the team haven't said any reason for that. Hope they will go out and do a very log run soon as we are quite a bit behind on lap count this morning.

A bit earlier than that.

I reckon they borrowed the nosecone from a Tyrrell 018, yellow numbers and all...

As a Ferrari fan may I please besiege our fellow competitor-colleagues at Enstone to keep this car in this livery for the rest of the year. I am absolutely in love with this car. It just looks so mean and aggressive this way.

I agree would love it if we keep the livery, shame it won't be most likely.

What kind of issues? There was only one with the leaking drive shaft after lunch time. They completed ~120 laps on the very first day. Is this a sign of bigger problems for you?

120 laps is still only 2/3rds of what Merc, RB and McLaren did.

Whatever the issue was, it took a lot of time out of their day which they can ill afford.

Today looks to be worse - Poor old Dan has a total of 19 laps on the board as I write this with under and hour to go. Not a good start to the week for Renault.

I love all these sweeping statements on here, as last year proved we know nothing John Snow until Melbourne and one could argue until the circus gets back to Europe.

Perez with the fastest time is 4 tenths faster overall, but Dan still has the purple S3. Seem to be strong in S3 so far in these 2 days

Not bothered with the times, the relatively low amount of laps again for Dan kinda sucks, only 4 more days of testing to go!

120 laps shall worry anybody? I don't think. Yes, there are some teams which covered +30-40 laps yesterday. It won't be a game changer if you are above 100.

Today is a much bigger concern.

AMuS:

"Why is Renault's morning sluggish? The French factory racing team had two problems. One concerns the hydraulics, the other the sub-floor, which heated up too much when crossing the curbs."

Still rather a quick car with some bugs to iron out than slow and reliable. That is if it is really quick. Early days but not bad pace this morning it seems.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. For Renault to really compete, they have to start turning up to day 1 of testing with a car that reels off laps with monotonous regularity like the Mercs have, so that the engineers can start building up an understanding of how their new car actually works. As of lunch time, the Renault engineers have had half the opportunities that the Mercedes engineers have had to gain that understanding.

How many laps do they need to start understanding the car? 120 is not enough on the very first day? I don't understand this panic mode.

Again: today is a different day, 41 laps are definitely not enough (Mc and Ferrari are in the same ballpark, so they are also in big trouble according to your logic).

At the end of the preseason testing let's check just the summa kilometers and we have already the final WCC order in 2020.

Lol, I don't think there was ever a suggestion of challenging Merc.

Not been a very good day in terms of lap count so far. Not sure what program they're running as eveytime they seem to go out now is a short run, which is a bit strange as they're well behind the lap count at the moment.

When the car is out seems to be ok and sets some decent times however fuel loads etc hard to read into that of course.

Ill never understand why Renault refuse to do laps on track. They doing this for years. Long lunch breaks, long seat fittings and lack of time on track on first tests. At this point it's tradition. Hope this changes for 2021.

This is part of their plan to confuse the opponents. :)

Minor technical issues halt them according to Amus.

Not the most productive day... Hope these teething small problems will by solved soon and they can stick to the planned program. Still they managed almost 100 laps, so there is some data to be analysed.

Cause maybe they arenā€™t ready for week 1 testing like Williams last year. The car seems way off aero spec wise.. I feel they just saving face by being there and keeping noise down... hence all this cloak and dagger stuff all launch season long. Something seems really off with the squad the last month. Just testing minor stuff like brakes and engine but maybe data wise not useful so downforce irrelevant right now so car behaviour could be meaningless and just looking a few things.

Ocon already said the car has more grip than RS19 and the 4 years old aero instability is gone.

So Lewis relishing for the first time ever doing laps and gathering data and information and Renault donā€™t need to šŸ˜œ. Teams concerned about lower amount of test days but Renault donā€™t the time or data on track... hmmm. Seems reasonable. What unreliability today? I didnā€™t see anything about Renault and a problem.

Ocon wouldnā€™t speak negatively of Renault at his early stage irregardless of what the car was doing.

Great the car has more downforce, hopefully not at the expense of drag at higher speeds when they lean it out... meaningless without context.

Generally having a fast twitchy car can be beneficial speed wise just hard to drive.. so even if an instability is gone from the previous years car does not mean itā€™s fast. A lot of poles are done trashing the car around and on verge of losing it.

I like Ocon and hope he gives Ric a very hard time.. just not buying to much into it on his 2nd day in the seat.

I want Renault to go well, I want Renault to beat the copycat w10 and frankly even McLaren after the lack of passion and acceptance of being a tier2 team that I donā€™t feel Renault is falling into a trap of.. just not seeing it yet to make it seem like they have a fire lit under their backsides. Seem unready for the test days thus far.
