If I would have said 'great granddaughters' I would have been a dirty creep. If a girl present at that race was 25 in 1970, she might have had children between 1972 and 1982. Their would make their daugthers between 36 and 47. The latter category would have daughters that could be around 20... that is already much too young for me, but perhaps not to play their grandmothers in a movie...

Just joking about my age not being higher (yet!).

A friend's wife:
Born 1962
Child 1980
Grandson 1997
Great grandson 2015

Feeling old again. :-(

By the way: would the life of David Purley not be a great movie? You can start and end the movie off Bognor Regis...😢

“Gone now your eager smile, high held head and soldier's stride, etched were skies by your elegant style, and this earth enriched by your pride.”

When my wife worked (briefly) in Social Services in a poor part of the North East of England she kept hearing colleagues talking about GATs . And they are? Grandmothers at Thirty

50 plus years too late for this, but what about Carry On Racing? Hi japes and double entendres on the Grand Prix circus. I can see Jim Dale as the racing hero up against a rather underhand rival played by Leslie Phillips. Perhaps Sid James as a greasy mechanic and Barbara Windsor and Joan Sims vying for the attentions of our heroic speed merchants. The possibilities are (or were) endless, although I am struggling to find a role for Bernard Bresslaw!

Bresslaw could be a Ken Tyrrell type team boss.

Charles Hawtree as an ineffective circuit boss, waving the chequered flag one lap too early...

Sid James had had practice in the greasy mechanic role:

I'm still trying to find suitable parts for Kenneth Williams and Hattie Jacques.

Moving on, how about a close look at dictatorial team management, the search in a pre-electronic timing age for those extra few tenths of a second, and the punishment awaiting those who fail.

The Pit and the Pendulum.

Vincent Price as Enzo Ferrari? Or perhaps Colin Chapman?

Kenneth in a blazer and leather armband as the RAC Steward and Hattie would obviously be a St John's Ambulance Brigade nurse.

I can't imagine Colin ever wanting to play Enzo... ;-)

The ideal person for Enzo would be that wonderful actor, Sir Simon Russell Beale . The older Chapman - Larry Lamb . And , if we need a Jim Clark Josh O'Connor, whose Prince Charles  in Netflix' The Crown looks more like Jim Clark than Clark himself did

The BMW M1 story. Charged with building 400 for homologation  Lamborghini managed 7 before the dosh ran out. Ex Lambo engineers setting up Italdesign to finish engineering, and three more Italian outfits and Baur to finish the job.

Directed by Francis Coppola, music by Ennio Morricone  and Colin Farrell as Giorgio Giugaro.
