Alfa and Haas on first day of testing, same for Williams but they'll present a livery on an old car and renders of the new one on the 17th.

It doesn't have to be a big change. This often means just an official "season launch" - a nice, posh event without much meaning made up mostly for the sponsors' sake. A livery reveal is just an extra excuse for it even if there's not much new to actually reveal.

Immediate thought is RoKIT Red livery, like other RoKIT sponsored cars.So Williams having a separate livery and chassis launch. A livery launch wouldn't be necessary if there isn't anything new to launch. So, what will it be?

How hilarious. Such a high-tech sport, so much money everywhere, but getting a group picture with the cars once a year is apparently too hard to organize.

Good grief. Can't someone strap on a pair and TELL them to turn up or go home? Wimps.

The reasons named, are that I can understand. Yet, Liberty should grow a pair and mandate it. Or retract some of the financial backing/prize money if they do not show up. Let's see how quickly those pictures can be taken.
Exactly. It is part of the show, part of Liberty's work to promote the series in the interests of all the teams and their sponsors. Drivers and team principals have to turn up at press conferences, so how is this different? It would take about 15 minutes for any normal group of racers (although I know that being F1, they would manage to spin it out to several hours). They could do it the evening before testing starts.
The teams' refusal is just part of the malaise that affects F1.

A yoghurt-vanilla vs an unmarked pack of Mild Sevens... Very bland.

Bwegh. I'm not from that era though, so the JPS liveries for instance did nothing for me and I was glad we finally lost that with the departure of Lotus, Team Lotus and (not so) Rich Energy.

Renault use a lot of blue
Blue is also the french racing colour

By the way, fans of particular teams are free to start individual 2020 team and technical threads.
We already have a Williams team thread here: https://forums.autos...ms-racing-2020/
And a Mercedes W11 technical thread here: https://forums.autos...1-w11-eq-power/

Literally after I posted for you guys to start new team threads. What is it with the aversion to starting new threads with you guys?
I think the high standard of certain OPs might be a little intimidating for some

I've split the Haas launch discussion into a new Haas VF-20 technical thread. Please continue Haas-centric discussion there, and don't be shy in creating your own team/car threads!

No it wouldn't, as seen below the color red is much more present. But I agree the white top of the nose is something that would be in need of change to prevent confusion. But the color red is being a "red line" through Williams' rumors for some time now. And they certainly are not dismissing it with videos like this. But then it would like very similar to the Haas livery

Haas.... first out of the box, the chance to do something amazing and new...
And then they do a painting by numbers ‘rent a livery’. Urgh.
No wonder there’s zero buzz about it.
NEXT!
Out of all the braindead pre-season comments we get, this one is always the worst...

At a glance when someone is ploughing in the tire wall you can't see if it is Grosjean or a Williams.

Definitely Grosjean.

This is the case for most teams, the launch is merely a corporate event, featuring a car that is different to the one they will arrive at the test with and that will line up on the grid in Australia. It doesn't have to be a big change. This often means just an official "season launch" - a nice, posh event without much meaning made up mostly for the sponsors' sake. A livery reveal is just an extra excuse for it even if there's not much new to actually reveal.

according to Corriere della Sera, Ferrari might be going to a different color red, 80s red:
When Ferrari presented a car for the first time last year without a high gloss, but with a matte finish, many people felt that the manufacturer had opted for a too bright red color. As a result, the SF90 almost got an orange glow in a certain light. For 2020, the matte paint is retained for weight reduction, but a darker red color is chosen. This color would be comparable to the colors that the team used in the 1980s...In addition, some details of the car with which Gilles Villeneuve, among others, raced, would also return. One of them is the design of the start numbers that will be large and white, framed with another white border.

If true. GOOD. They look absolutely horrible in the 2019 colour. If you are going to run in the traditional racing colours of Italy, then use the proper shade.

Crimson red like they used until Marlbore Red came in 1996 (and had a short return in a metallic version in 2007/08) would be very nice.
The border around numbers was last used in 1994 on the T1. The T2 had solid numbers. The gold rims would be nice as well.
He has to tell it over and over because of the new fans who were not around 30 years ago.
Actually it is worriying thought that journos often overlook newbies and write in a manner intended for an audience that is around for the past 30 years
Usually commentators here explain everything again and again every session. As if you are new every race.
