Very poor coding, as I only ever access via laptop I am oblivious to many of the challenges other people have, something like this should for any application be impossible, I do not understand how it can be released with that functionality, or more aptly lack of functionality.

I think it (the code) is based upon some old ideas that were relevant some 5 to 10 years ago. It just hasn't been brought up to standard to comply with the wishes of nowadays. The mobile version also doesn't provide in a good overview of your profile or you cant see who liked a post. Those little things would aid to the overall positive experience of the mobile version.

Interesting how the vanguard of technology is having such a poorly coded version. 

Wouldn't it be better to just float ideas how or what to improve instead of being Statler and Waldorf together as one?

When coding across multiple platforms, you have to ensure the same functionality on all of them,

 

I have got the idea that multiple platforms werent that much of an issue back in the day where this forum was build, since the IP Board used was built in 2008.

 

 

 

 

So yes, you can expect the world. But if the technology that was used isnt up for the current standard and the manpower (or budget) is an issue to improve the site, then it is not really constructive criticism what is being applied here. I'd say it is better to just hand out ideas than to torch the whole forum down because you expect something different. <- My opinion that is

 

I am not recommending tearing anything down, I am surprised that it is an issue, I am certain that the coding could have been done back in 2008 with no real cost added to the project. 

Not in a way where it would be completely flawless right now. C# has taken a huge leap forward in becoming the prime used coding language since 2008. Also various libraries like JQuery or TypeScript based frameworks like Angular have made serious steps forward as being the best option to use. There are many many many reasons as to why back then the coding was done as it was done and in effect has its negative experience (like the deletion of comments quite easily) like it is. The coding done for this Forum is just in need of an overhaul. Thats a massive task, but it is all there is to it. Unless that is done, we are to live with these glitches that could be patched none the less.

I find it absurdly easy to accidently "like" stuff on mobile. Not as catastrophic as deleting your post, but still.

Then find back what you did like on your mobile once logging on again. Good luck! Near impossible to do unless you switch to the normal desktop.

When coding should not be possible to delete without confirming you want to delete, truly not rocket science in any language. If you finish your SQL statement with a commit you are mucked, which is why you do not do that. This has become a different conversation than I imagined.

I know that is what you stated. I just see it differently. As this forum was being set up in an age (2008-ish) where mobile smartphones werent around that much yet, it could very well be that no one ever thought on this confirmation message before when building the mobile version of this forum. Nowadays it would be essential to add such a simple feature.

But the reason as to why I wanted to do this, was your strong opinion. Which I just tried to tone down because I see it differently. 

I know that is what you stated. I just see it differently. I maintain that having a delete function without a warning is poor coding, and not something which can be excused by it being 2008, not having a warning in 1998, 1988, 1978 and 1968 would be equally wrong - I am not saying there may not have been applications with no roll-back, no warning - It was poor coding in 2008, it would be poor coding today and as long as there have been coding it would be poor if you could delete without a warning or a roll back function.
