As time marches on and we sadly lose members of our forum, is it a worthwhile idea to have a memorial space on the site which contains a brief description of each person and a link to their condolences thread?

I am thinking maybe something in the Members List section, not open to public comments.

maybe i am being a bit sentimental but the longer one is here, the more friends one loses and it feels a shame to not have a centralized place of remembrance. Just a thought anyways.

We have just lost Condor, very much a piece of the furniture going back tot he Atlas days. As the title suggests, as time marches on we will get more of this and it would be a shame not to have  centralised place to remember the contributions people made here.

Yes, I agree. Should we make it this thread? After all, this is a BB and threads are all we can make.

(I'm not entirely sure which forum it should be in.)

Could there not be an ‘ In Memoriam’ sub forum somewhere with threads?

How about an “In Memoriam” sticky in the Paddock Club?

Only if there's a 'GOOD RIDDANCE' sub-thread.

Re the sticky idea - perhaps you, Alfisti, could send a PM to Slartibartfast (effectively repeating what you wrote in your OP here + sticky) and see what he says.

The drawback with hosting the thread in the Paddock Club is that it's a closed forum with restricted access. Placing the thread in there would, de facto, make it for former Paddock Club members only. I'm not sure that creating something in the Members List is technically viable, unfortunately, as it would be a logical place.

I think Risil's suggestion of this thread is a good one, it already has a suitable title. But if not this thread, then this sub-forum. It has the advantage that it is for all members regardless of which forum they frequent.

Ah, our master’s voice! :)

Reasonable objection in the first instance.

Re this sub-forum - that’s kinda what it is, and I’m fairly certain that folks don’t visit it anywhere near as often.

How about a sticky in each of the Racing Comments, Nostalgia Forum, and Paddock Club?
