When quoting posts with images the images should be automatically stripped from the reply

As per title, multiple people quoting image posts turn a thread into a scroll fest. My poor mouse wheel

This is a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' thing, really. I agree that it's frustrating when someone quotes a post with multiple pictures though - especially if they're reacting to only one of those pictures. But we have to rely on the discretion and good sense of people quoting posts and their ability to manipulate the content of those quotes. I don't use a phone on the forums, but I suspect it would be a particularly difficult thing to do accurately on such a small screen. It's not all that easy on a full-size desktop!

And looking at it from the other end of the telescope, we know there are many members who are unfamiliar with the technique of posting pictures - were they to accidentally delete a picture they wished to include in a quote they simply wouldn't know how to restore it. That would also apply if we were to follow your suggestion of stripping all images out by default.

On mobile it's really hard to manually strip pictures because you have to scroll through [image]code[image] tags and manually delete. It's fiddly. It's easy enough to do it on a desktop because the pictures appear in the quoted section and you just have to click on them and delete.

I don't think it would be right to automatically delete them, because sometimes you want to quote a particular image to draw attention to something.

I think it's best to just rely on good conduct here. Don't quote walls of images, just as you wouldn't quote a long block of text. It's just rude.
