I know, it might sound like it is a bit too early to start this thread off already. But since there is a serious contender for the title sponsorship of Aston Martin in 2021, and since this doesnt involve the transfer of Sebastian Vettel, and since this story doesnt revolve around Racing Point, I think it is actually a valid reason to start this thread already.
If the admins/mods think otherwise, then please by all means merge this story into an existing thread.

As said; Aston Martin appears to have found a new title sponsor; US based IT company Cognizant. At least they are in talks with them.
German article here:
https://www.motorspo...tt-bwt-20121604

Now this is where I get my imagination running. Ive found a font and background that Cognizant uses. And since it incorporates blue and green(ish), could it be a hint for the livery to come? BWT could be added in a white font on the blue patches of the car and the green runs over into BRG?

I find it a little ironic that it takes a Canadian like Lawrence Stroll to want to bring BRG back to the F1 grid.

Not that I oppose it, naturally!

All the former-colonies used BRG anyway, just with a different coloured stripe.

I've read that linked article (or rather its translation) before and it's pretty interesting when it comes to BWT. Seems like they're very stubborn when it comes to showcasing their colours which is a problem since Lawrence Stroll really doesn't want the Aston Martin to be pink. Can't say I'm a fan of the team but I'm still rooting for them to avoid the abomination that is green + pink colour combo.

The pink is OK. It's the heart wheels that are rather sickening.

Words rather fail me.  The wheels do distract from the body colour....but, why?  just why?

To bring you to the grid would take something special   ;)

Ive read a similar thing. But I do wonder what that abomination would look like to be honest. BRG, vomit yellow, blue and a splash of pink. Sounds like a cocktail.

People like that need to be punished. And hand over their car to me. Where I will spraypaint them in a good color myself with some spray cans fom tesco or something. Or just rip the wrap off. Would be easier I think

The pink Racing Point car is hideous. Just hideous. It hurts my eyes seeing it on track. I wouldn't blame Stroll one bit if they dropped their title sponsor just to get rid of the colour. Image is everything as they say and there is no way the AM brand should be a pink car. Pink is just an awful colour.

Let's hope Lawrence gets rid of the pink colour and goes to British Racing Green.

I tried to marry green and BWT pink for a 2021 Aston livery on Gran Turismo... I didn't much like the result...

However, try pink and Aston's current dayglow yellow/green.

I like the pink cars! They add some much needed color to an otherwise boringly corporate grid.

Now that is getting quite interesting with the vomit yellow, BRG and pink. Replace the orange lines with pink and slap a patch of pink on the car to Incoorporate BWT and I think you are there.

Agree. Look what happened in the last years of LMP1 and last year in FormulaE. Endless variations of White/Red/Black.

That yellowish green (or greenish yellow) or any mix up with pink is disgusting. I wished they could go for something like the color on the classic DBR4.

The distinctive colors of past years F1 grid..
Mercedes - Black
Red Bull - Blue
McLaren - Orange
Racing Point - Pink
Renault - Yellow
Ferrari - Red
Alpha Tauri - White

This is where the recurring colors come up:
Alfa Romeo - White
Haas - Black
Williams - White

Of course there are secondary colors and one could argue about Renaults key color being yellow or black, but fact is that last years grid is far from boring color wise seen.
Hopefully Aston Martin doesn't fudge it up.

Well, at least that's better than it was 1995ish, when nearly everybody seemed to be a combination of white and some sort of blue (Tyrrell, Benetton, Ligier, Minardi, Pacific, Williams, Arrows to some extent...).

That's true, it wasn't bad at all. Earlier this season I happened to watch a race with my family for the first time in years and my mother (who doesn't care for F1 at all) was very suprised that the cars were so colourful. Apparently it's a major difference to what she remembered from what must've been around 2013-14.

Aston going for the bright colours they used in GTE would almost be a replacement for the outgoing Renault yellow. While the BRG is a classic I don't think it would suit the shape of a modern F1 car very well.

I know I am probably talking to convinced F1 supporters here but can someone please tell me why the Aston Martin name should be linked to Formula One? Look what happened last time! And now we are being told that the Le Mans GTE programme is ending. The Le Mans Hypercar has been canned. Like Jaguar, sports car racing is where Aston belongs; has no one taken notice of what happened when money decided that Jaguar should be a Formula One brand? And now they are denying their heritage by indulging in Formula Scalextric, sorry FE. Is there no one at the iconic British manufacturers who understands what heritage is all about?

Another motorsport programme sacrificed to the altar of F1.

Aston are a sportscar manufacturer - and should be in GT racing as a factory team; not F1. It's obvious who is behind this........

THe thing about the pink livery is that it's brought a lot of attention to BWT, a company I would likely never have heard of before. I don't see the big deal. Is Lawrence's male ego so fragile that he can't stomach fielding a pink car? I doubt it. Though some use of BRG would be appropriate for Aston Martin I'd imagine the primary focus when choosing title sponsors is how much cash they bring.

I’d imagine Aston will want a change of visual identity just to stop the team being referred to as Force India still, as what happened under Racing Point.

Why fund a factory team, when you can sell GT cars for teams to run privately? Makes perfect business sense to me... make some money and the brand is still in top tier GT racing... #winning

On the bonus side, you now have a halo F1 factory team to filter its 'hoped' success down the motorsport ladder. If it helps sell some more road cars, then there is no reason why AM will not return to GT/WEC racing further down the line. This way, they keep their 'toe in' the water :)

That + I think they want a "proper" Aston Martin branding instead of just sponsor colours. To make it known that it's the real deal.

Not so worried about the factory team quitting GT racing, as you say private teams can, perhaps, take up the reins. It's the "prototype" area where Aston needs to be. They looked like they were on their way to being in at the beginning of the "hypercar" formula but then the F1 obsession has destroyed that. I can see them being no better than the "green Mercedes" in F1 whereas the Valkyrie at Le Mans would have been a real flagship for a sports car manufacturer. Further down the line, given success at Le Mans they could have considered F1.

Why?  They have hardly ever been in the prototype class.  OK, their Le Mans win in 1959 with the DBR1 was a prototype, if you could use that terminology back then, but since then there have been only a couple of attempts - one a dreadful fiasco, the others OK but no cigar.  Whereas in the GT classes, they have been a consistent force.  That is where they belong.  As for F1, this is just playing to the gallery in the same way as Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren.  They all make GT cars for the road yet publicise them with single seaters.

Aston Martin were a force to be reckoned with in sports cars in the '50's. Not just Le Mans but Nurburgring particularly. A little effort in the GT class in '63 with the DP214 made them capable of running toward the front of a "classic" sports car race but GT cars these days cannot do so which is why Aston Martin need to return to their 1950's position in sports car racing. They need to be winning consistently in modern day GT racing (apart from WEC) to gain anything from GT participation.

Sorry I just look forward to the day when we can see Aston Martin, Jaguar, Ferrari and Alfa Romeo battling it out at Le Mans!
