It is with a heavy heart that I report the death of John Lamm - over many years a valued friend and colleague and to my mind absolutely the finest automotive photographer (as distinct from racing photographer) of his era...  - who lost his battle yesterday.  His work - published most notably in 'Road & Track' magazine - was always outstanding and has seldom been matched, much less surpassed.   Above all else, he was just another really, really, really good guy...

Sad news indeed.  He was a real enthusiast,  I always enjoyed his photos and stories with his byline.

So very sorry you’ve lost such a friend, Doug.

I temper that sorrow with your honor in describing someone from my profession. In an era of photo hacks everywhere, John was both old school and real deal, so his loss is particularly hard to hear.

You have my ultimate respect for the words and perspective you’ve given him.

Thank You, and RIP.

I’m saddened to learn of John’s passing. I enjoyed his work for many, many years.

Very sad to hear this news, but thanks for letting us know.  The JL/RT pairing was a big part of my growing up a motorsports and car fan, what a wonderful magazine it was back then. It's one of the bitter prices of progress (the Internet) that such treasures are now a feeble shadow of what they once were.

Me, too Widefoot, and my R&T collection goes back to one showing “Fangio Wins Argentine Grand Prix” or the like.
