Sainz & Vettel helmets, although not sure if it's their final 2021 design

That's a very nice basic design from Sainz (disregarding the swooshes and shapes in the detail).

I guess we'll never know if Vettel would have had a pink helmet.

I think they should bring back the retro single design per driver. Makes it so much easier spotting who's who.

that helmet looks so good in this plain state, too bad it will get plastered with sponsor logos.

Hmmm... I love the fact that Daniel is willing to do something different with his helmets. But I am a bit underwhelmed by this one. Definitely preferred his 2019/2020 lids. But maybe it will grow on me.

It looks really good overall, but the top needs to be tweaked. Especially the arrow cross needs to go because it's banned in some countries (ex. Hungary) as it was a far-right nazi symbol.

Yeah I saw that too when I looked at the cross, obviously nothing like it in design thought from him, but some could take offense to it so probably needs to be changed.

They look like people have turned up at a Red Bull Kart Hire track and grabbed generic racey looking Red Bull helmets off the shelf to use....

Agree, but also regulate the size and placement of sponsor decals to prevent these horrible RedBull/AlphaTauri (and others) helmet design takeovers...

If you have to have the alpha Tauri logo/colour on there... why not just embrace it and have the whole helmet blue/white

Those just look so **** and generic.

Ewwww on AT guys helmets.

Why can’t drivers just to stick to a design like Hill’s family did, JV V etc. Seb white German is nice.

So many of lids are all the same and utterly boring based on a team livery.

Stop with matching the team car every year. argh. Makes Ricciardo’s last couple of designs look good by comparison.

I can't decide which is more horrifying, the helmets, or the AlphaTauri wardrobe they were forced to wear at the car launch...

Is it common for drivers from the same team to use different brands of helmet? Like Gasly's helmet is Bell and Tsunoda's is Arai.

Yes. Sometimes depends on sponsorship (Ferrari used to have a link with Schuberth), but mostly it's what the drivers find comfortable. Mercedes, for example - Hamilton uses Bell, Bottas uses Stilo.

In Red Bull / Alpha Tauri's case, it's OK to use different helmet brands, as long as they are all UGLY.

Giovinazzi's is probably the best of the bunch so far. I'm not sure Räikkönen even has a "design" any more.

Kimi's the same as last year, just switched the white part to black.

The Giovinazzi one is decent but would be so much better if the green and red lines were solid colour with sharp edges rather than all these gradients, swooshes, "speedmarks" etc

Doubly disappointing since Alfa Romeo doesn't have a halo or other stupidity mandated on their drivers' helmets, and Kimi still managed to come up with a convoluted mess that says nothing.  Now  it's so mangled, you can't even make out the number 7 anymore.  This could be a very clean iconic helmet, a bit like Niki Lauda's "L" design turned upside down, but...

On the official photo Kimi holds helmet with different design. It’s a bit confusing. More white and looks a bit better. But yeh, either way he used to have some nicer helmets in the past.

I agree, but I also prefer his old design when the base colour was blue.

I do like Hamilton‘s lid. I think he could probably do with single lines instead of double, particularly around the halo, but he‘s definitely had worse over the last couple of years.

Hamilton's is nice, at least it has a cohesive identity.

I like Daniel's too because it's, as always, so random, and I always like Seb's...

Well it's ok but not super creative. It's pretty much the same helmet that Vettel has, just with an Italian flag.

Looks as if he's holding his breath so that the face color matches livery and helmet.

Why even bother revealing Red Bull helmet "designs" ... useless mess every time.  When the most likable helmt in the entire Red Bull organization is Helmt Marko, you know you've got a problem!

Red Bull have absolutely removed the individuality from the only thing the drivers can visually express in the car.

It's not like they need more branding when it's that prominent on the car.

They should be ashamed really. Bloody awful size.

I’m no fan of Red Bull’s helmet policy although it should be said that is closer to Sergio’s “real” helmet design than the one he has been wearing in the BWT era...

The only helmet design that wasn't completely ruined by the Red Bull stickers was DC's.

Can you clarify that RB even has a Helmut Policy and it's not solely the drivers decision.

With respect to Sergio.. sorry how exactly has he had a "design" continuity that isn't flowing into his 2021 design.  Sorry.. but his always been a mess, lack of overall design and cohesiveness.  I do not see anything in his RB 2021 lid that is grossly out of the norm for him.

They should write into the regulations that helmets cannot have sponsors on them, I’m serious. There’s just no individuality or personality with helmets any more (which has mattered even less with the introduction of the halo).

Up until the mid-late 2000s I could identify pretty much every driver by their helmet design. Now, at least 50-75% of them are either Redbull/AT sponsors or they have the generic ‘whooshy’ crap all over them. It’s actually a bit sad...this was the driver’s personality.

Who was the first driver to start this “modern whooshy” design trend?
I seem to recall it was Kimi. Although he had some nice designs earlier in his career. Loved his Monaco 2006 helmet and the ones from Lotus days.
