So we had another inaugural win. Who will be next?

Why is Shwartzman the only F2 option here in the poll and not the championship leader Piastri?

Weird to see Shwartzman, but not Russell as an option  :drunk:

How many picked Ocon in the last poll?

Can't recall who I went for then, but this time I went for Norris.

Must be Norris, he’s been knocking at the door several times now but hasn’t had the luck of a crazy race falling his way.

He may well do it on meritorious speed.

Thanks for editing the poll. Now I can vote for Russell. I'd expect him to do it next year when/if he's in the Mercedes.

Though it would be incredible if we had another surprise winner this season. Still a long way to go. We had two surprises last year (Gasly and Perez).

This one really was a curve ball, I never had him in mind when thinking about surprising winners but I am quite happy about it. I really like Ocon and have since I first saw him race. I’d love to think this result will push him on towards a new level as I thought before this we’d seen all he had to offer whereas I once saw him as a possible replacement for Lewis.

Leaving all other matters aside, he's already a race winner...!

I’m going sensible and picking George Russell in the Mercedes drive he’s already got. ;)

Norris winning wouldn’t be a shock though, and if I had a second vote it’ll be him.

2008 Canadian Grand Prix.

I believe that's the year he had his monstruous accident, but the car was repaired during the red flag and he went on to win the race. Or something like that.

The red flag lasted an entire year actually.

McLaren hasn't won in a while... Lando wouldn't be a bad shout. Still, Russell has got to be the favourite here

I don’t think Ferrari will win this year. I’d love Sainz to win one and I think he’s done incredibly well in 2021. He’s stood up so, so much better against Leclerc than I expected, but realistically it’s going to be Lando Norris or George Russell in 2022.

Weird how it felt like we had waited ages for a new first time winner before Gasly won, and now we've had three "shock" victories in under a year.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Norris was the next one, given the way he's been driving this year and the likelihood of further shenanigans between Red Bull and Mercedes. Sainz/Russell (the later in '22, if he gets the Merc drive) probably more conventional bets though.

Its got to be either Norris, Sainz or Russell. But in a crazy day anyone could win. Im thinking Stroll as a possibility...

He's been very fortunate to get two huge scores in Monaco and now Hungary when Leclerc wasn't present.

Agree that the conditions are fair for another shock winner. Perez and Bottas are still patchy so we only need misfortune to strike Hamilton and Verstappen to bring someone unexpected into contention. A little different from, say, 2016 when you had to get past Hamilton, Rosberg, Ricciardo, Verstappen, Vettel and Raikkonen.

Hoping for Norris, but he's too much of a bad luck magnet when in a good position.

Voted Sainz, he's gonna snag it while Max and Hamilton fight with damaged cars completely distracting the director from Sainz's maiden victory.

Norris. With a bit of luck he could've already be GP winner. He certainly deserved one by now.

To a degree, but Sainz has still done better than I expected him to. Got to remember he’s jumping into Charles’ team fresh from Leclerc making Vettel took rather silly. He’s been right up with Leclerc more than enough to make me think he’s got a good future there.

This year I'd say Norris. Next year, could be anyone. For all we know Haas gets it right and Mazepin gets it.

I’d put that down as very low probability - several orders lower than Ocon winning another race with Alpine.

In the previous iteration of this poll (posted in 2020), most of those who voted were correct in predicting that the 111th winner would arrive this year.

A small minority predicted that Esteban Ocon would be the one.

I think we're on for another wacky race before the end of the season... so it's either Sainz or Norris. I'll go for Lando then.

Now watch as Yuki Tsunoda becomes the 112th race winner :-)

It wasn't the first one, I've found one from 2012. https://forums.autos...03rd-gp-winner/

Always amusing to read past predictions a good few years later. :p
