This morning's Times has an obituary of John Pearson, biographer of Ian Fleming and the Krays, and author of Bluebird and the Dead Lake, his account of Donald Campbell's 1964 land speed record at Lake Eyre.

It claims he 'took Bluebird for a test drive at 200mph to understand how Campbell felt breaking the land-speed record at 403mph.'

Really?

I would very much doubt that, but John wasn't prone to being liberal with the truth either.

Ken Norris was present at every run CN7 made, and the list of those that drove CN7 is very short, and has never included John Pearson.

I thought as much, Steve, thanks.
